Question about Little Giant Pumps W8G-X Submersible Deep Well Pump - 8 GPM, Thermoplastic

3 Answers

Twice in the last year, the floater of my toilet jammed causing the water to run all night long. After running for 12 hours the water kept running but turned brown and muddy. After a day or so, all returns to normal. I have a deep well (150 feet) and the submersible pump is 100 feet deep. What happens to cause this situation?

As the pump runs for that long, it pumps the well level down. Under normal running conditions, the well would only run intermittently, then be off for a period, allowing things to settle and refill. When the toilet runs all night, the pump runs all night too, causing turbulence which stirs up the sediment in the bottom of the well. Which is then drawn into the pump and up to your system.

All that water running through your house stirs up the gunk in your pipes.

I dont think you have anything to worry about ... except, fix your float so it doesnt stick any more. You could replace that system with a newer version that doesnt use the ball and lever method.

Check em out at your Ace Hardware strore.

The valve that controls water flow is sticking. replace the interior water stand pipe valve with a new one you got dirt in the valve and it is not clsoeing. It would be a good ideal to put a filter on the output side of the pump. Aslo the wll level is most likely low due to lack of rain causeing the brown water. If you need more help post and let me know. the Vlave assembly costs $15.00 for a good replacement. also check that the flush handle is notr cathcing on anything and the flapper valve does not have a hole or rust arounf the ring.

Hold floater up with your hand and see if it stops. If so replace the floater mechanism.

The toilet runs water for about 15 seconds at least once each hour during the day when not even in use, what needs to be adjusted or fixed?

Sounds like you have a leaky "flapper valve". The replacements are cheap and readily available at any home improvement store. Get the make of toilet, and take it with you. The valves are easy to replace and are pretty standard.

FIX A LEAK IN THE TOILET

i had the same issue few months ago take the lid off the back of it and check the floater if it is not where you set it will move to the overflow and run into the toilet. if that is not the issue then it is the plug flap either the toilet is not sealed properly or is deteriorating. the plug is easy to replace ($15 or less at walmart).

Toilet won't stop running. Flapper is fine, I raised the floater, every third flush it spills into the overflow. The slightest touch on the topmost piece of the assembly, and it stops.

Raising the floater will raise the water level which means overflow and water will keep running.

You need to lower the float to stop the water at a lower level.

Slow leak from tank into bowl. We can hear tank refilling once or twice a night.

I'm contractor for the last 17 years and this is the first time I have problems with the toilet tank installation , I bought four toilets, three of them had a leaking tank I thought that the place that had bolt did not have enough pressure and I put more pressure every five minutes but the toilets kept on leaking, I took the bolts out and I put plumbing putty in the top and the bottom and installed it again but it kept on leaking then i removed the putty and i put liquid teflon on the bolts and finally the leaking stoped. Hi,
Either you did not get the right flapper or you have a crack that is letting the water through even though the flapper is sealed...
Cracks can be very hard to identify, but if the flapper is sealing good then that's your problem...

Valve to stop water from running

IF YOU HAVE A FLUIDMASTER BALLCOCK,AND IF THE WATER IS CONTINUING TO RUN ,YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE WATER LEVEL,MOST OS THE TIME ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OPEN THE TANK LID AND ON THE LEFT SIDE YOU'LL SEE THE BALLCOCK,AT THE TOP IT MIGHT HAVE A BLACK PIECE THAT YOU CAN SLIDE UP AND DOWN TO ADJUST THE WATER LEVEL,OR SOME HAVE A PIECE THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN USE A PHILLIPS HEADS SCREWDRIVER,ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TURN IT A HALF OF TURN EACH TIME UNTIL THE WATER STOPS GOING INTO THE OVERFLOW TUBE ,WHICH IS USUALLY LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE TANK AND IT WILLBE 1INCH ROUND ,IT ALSO WILL HAVE YOUR FLAPPER OR BALL CONNECTER TO IT.

Toto toilet is constantly running, even though the tank is full

it sounds like it might be the floater ball in the toilet you can adjust the tension on it usually with a screwdriver.... if you look from the top down you should see a screw on the top of the arm that holds the floater adjust the tension and hopefully this will work

Toilet doen't stop flushing

Sounds like the flapper is stuck in the open position.
They sometimes get hung on the flush tube or the chain hanging from the handle.

Is the water level overflowing the tube?
If so, try adjusting the level down, you may need a new fill valve if that doesnt work.
