Question about Hunter Kenroy 50151cop Kenroy Montpelier Copper and Slate Floor Fountain

1 Answer

I have a Montpelier floor standing fountain and it eats halogen bulbs. It's supposed to take 12v bulbs but I measure the voltage output from the AC adapter and it's putting out 25 volts. What's up?

Your ac adapter is bad or the supply voltage to the adapter has changed for some reason.
Try plugging the adapter in some where else and verify the voltage. If this does'nt work buy another adapter that will give you the 12volts you are needing. Remember do not touch the halogen bulbs with your bare fingers because this will ruin the bulb.

My Sirius Range Hood has two lights that take G4 Halogen bulbs. Is there a 115V bulb made for this application or is there something that converts the voltage to 12V?

These Halogen bulbs are inefficient, and run so hot that they often damage the reflector and bulb socket if they are left on too long. Fortunately there is an easy fix for this. At most stores that sell the exact replacement Halogen bulbs (Lowes, Home Depot and others) you will see a selection of LED bulbs on the same display rack that will fit into the same socket the Halogen bulbs use. It is IMPORTANT that you know the code number stamped on the base of your Halogen bulb AND its voltage because some Halogen bulbs are 12 volts and some are 110 volts. If you can't read the labeling on the bulb, look for the wiring diagram usually glued inside the range hood or look in your owner's manual. Once you know your Halogen bulb's code number, look at the packages that the LED replacements come in. There will be a list of Halogen bulb code numbers that the LEDs are meant to replace. The male sockets on these LED replacements will be shaped just like the sockets on your original Halogen bulbs so they will plug in easily. However, just like LEDs bulbs that replace the old incandescent bulbs in your table lamps or ceiling sockets, they have an electronic section included in there base to run the LEDs and it makes the LED bulb slightly longer than the much simpler Halogen bulb. For my stove hood it meant that the bulb would not quite fit into the reflector in the hood. I had to use a Dremel tool to remove a bit of the reflector to get a proper fit. The LED bulb is just as bright but runs SO much cooler and uses so much less electricity that now I can use the range hood as a night light in the kitchen. I never felt safe doing that with the two Halogen bulbs since they ran so hot that they were burning the fixture that held them in the stainless steel hood and were melting the wiring entering the socket base. This upgrade to your range hood is well worth the effort.

Humming halogens. I recently installed an electronic low voltage dimmer, 300watt DIVA, to my Kablelight system. I have 4 MR16- 12V- 50 watt bulbs. (200 watts total). When dimmed, the lights hum loudly. I...

Transformer hum with dimmers is a problem. Lutron may offer you an inductor to add to the wire to help. Replacing your 50w bulbs with 12w LED bulbs may help, too. Same light output.

It will not trurn on does the ac adapter need replacement it is over 10 yrs old

Look at adapter, see what output is supposed to be- maybe 12 volts DC? Find a multimeter that will measure DC voltage, and see if the output plug has that across the connector. If you have an ordinary power cord without an adapter, it will have 120 volts AC like any other cord, which you can also measure on AC scale, but be careful as you can get a dangerous shock, just like you can from an ordinary household outlet.
Note: AC voltage may vary by country.

What benefit do 12 volt led light bulbs have?

Due to the solid state design of LED lighting, there are some important features that will be very useful especially when it comes to outdoor, landscape LED lighting. Safety of 12V LED lights. First distinguishing feature is safety. As compared to incandescent landscape lighting, low voltage LED lights are much more energy efficient and because of that, they are more fireproof. In other words, with lesser energy flow, the chances of fire getting started due to malfunction, overheating, or similar circumstance is relatively lower. Also, the electric short can not cause as much damage as with the 110V voltage lights. As opposed to halogen lights, there is hardly a fear of explosion of the LED light bulb upon overheating or other malfunction. Finally, LED lights are cold to the touch, adding to passers by safety.

I have a Red Lion submersible pump, drawing water from a lake. The pump has a low voltage charge (about the same as a 12 volt battery), after all power is shut off.. I have even shut off the main breaker...

If you are measuring this with a volt meter, you might be measuring a voltage with a VERY small current that could be coming from the pump motor magnet in combo with the plumbing and minerals in the water...but, that may not matter. To see if this is significant, hook up a 12V test light using an automotive interior light bulb or a turn signal bulb. Try it at night (or at least out of the sun) so you can see if you get a bit of glow. The current may be so weak that it cannot maintain even one volt across the light bulb filament, in which case you can disregard it. You can put your voltmeter in parallel with the test light to measure the voltage with the light bulb load in place.
If the light bulb does light up, then you have a problem. Please update this with where exactly you are measuring this 12V, and clarify if you are seeing this voltage only with the pump still connected to power.

MY RCA 27" WILL NOT TURN ON, HAVE POWER TO THE FUSE, THE FUSE IS GOOD ALSO BUT THE DEGAUSS RELAY DOES NOT CLICK AND NO OTHER CLICKS ARE HEARD EITHER, WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

you need to check the voltage output of your power supply section. This power supply supply is a switching type power supply.there is a chopper transformer in there.its supply is a dc voltage unlike any other transformer which is AC supplied on the primary..First step.
1.Using a multitester measure the primary supply it is a DC voltage around 220v - 110 VDC
2.Measure the secondary output. The out put is AC voltage the supply for the B+ going to plyback is 115vdc the second output is 12v run through a regulator and the regulator lower the voltage to 5vdc.this 5vdc supplies the system IC and the jungle IC.this ic process the switching of the plyback transformer and the plyback transformers output supplies the voltage of the whole system including your relay in the degaussing section....once the plyback is activated the tv will now turn on...

good luck!Hope i helped you..

please rate my help..god bless!

Use Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 in Europe

A transformer type (Linear Mode Power Supply) AC to DC power adapter with a 9.V nominal output, measures about 12.V without load when tested with a multimeter. A power adapter with a nominal output of 7.5 V, measures a little over 9.V. Considering a number of people across different forums reported the adapter's measured power output as 12.V, I think the nominal rating of the AC to DC adapter should be 9.V. However, keep away from Switch Mode Power Supplies.
