Re: Your CPU had a problem

Rescue bios on kx18dproll is used to restore original bios and should only be used for this purpose to fix download a bios from albatron create a flkoppy boot disc with a bios flash utility and bios on it start computer to floppy then using dip switch turn off rescue bios this will then have original bios on you can then flash it. when running rescue bios and screen displaying "bios settings changed do not power off" alow power to go off if it does the board will be dead

Hello When trying to turn on my pc I hear a mesage from the voice genie, saying that there is a problem (your CPU might have a problem, I think). I have amd sempron 2500+ socket a albatron kx18d...

Have you tried removing the Cmos Battery? if not remove it and leave it outside for few minutes (5 mins) and reinstall it (do this while the Machine is off). Boot the system again. It's also important to re-seat all the components like, front panel connectors, usb connectors, audio connectors, hard disk, cd/dvd rom, processor, Ram, fan, power connector, etc... and clean whatever you can and then reconnect or reinstall them. If there's no actual cpu failure or motherboard faulty, your problem will be fixed.

I wonder where's that Genie voice came from :-)

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have been searching the world for an Albatron KM18G Pro Motherboard to replace one that has fried. Do I need the motherboard to be exactly the same?

No you don't. Find out what CPU you have and what socket is on the motherboard (it will be printed on the CPU socket).
Then look at the memory to see what speed it is.
Now look for a motherboard that supports both that CPU socket and that memory type/speed.
Everything else just goes along for the ride. (Video card, though--do you need on-board video or do you need a socket to support the external card--check that, also)

Your GA-7N400 PRO2 motherboard does not have a built-in video graphics card. You need to install an AGP 8x graphics card into the AGP slot on the motherboard. When you removed the heat-sink & fan assembly the CPU starts to over heat & the CPU will shut down the system. That's why you heard the, european ambulance sound.
If it wouldn’t, you would fry the CPU. Make sure you add thermal grease on to the CPU before re-assembling the heat-sink & fan. Don't forget to plug the CPU fan power connector on to the board.

Download & read your manual. Open the link provided here;

Good luck!
