Step 1: Reinitialize and check the All-in-one
=-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-=
1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the All-in-One. The
All-in-One will reinitialize when it is plugged back in. You must disconnect
the power cord, turning the unit off using the power button will not
reinitialize the fax. Leave the power cord disconnected for now.

2. Verify that the phone cable is fully inserted into the All-in-One.

3. Reconnect the power cord. After the fax reinitializes and is ready, try
to send and receive faxes again. If the problem still exists, continue to
Step two: Check the connections.

Step 2 :
=-=-=-=-=
Replace the telephone cable between the wall jack and the telephone with
another two-conductor cable. If a dial tone cannot be heard after changing
the cable, contact your telephone company for assistance.

Now, check the functionality of the All-in-One. If the issue persists, I
request you to perform the steps given below to resolve the issue:

Step 3: Power Cycle the Unit
=-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==
If the power cord was plugged into a surge suppressor, please remove the
power cord from the surge suppressor and plug directly into a wall power
outlet. In some cases there are too many devices plugged into surge
suppressors or the suppressor may be defective. Replace any defective surge
suppressor or move some devices onto a different circuit.

Please follow the steps below to power cycle your all-in-one:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from
power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Please wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the
connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.
6. Please restart your computer and check the functionality.

Now, please check the functionality.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you to please go through the below web link were in you can check your fax by sending a fax to HP Server and within some time HP will send you back a reply as a fax.

Same problem

press the setup button and scroll down to tools.
in tools there should be an option that says run fax test.
that would give you a printed page as to which part of the hardware of the printer or the fax line failed.

What your error code means is(look below)

Definition

There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.

Solution

Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

MY HP LASERJET 3050 WON'T SEND FAXES

While its possible, I doubt your doing it wrong...
  • Select [FAX], place the paper as indicated on the tray, type the number, and hit send. That's about it.
However, Fax machines will not send when attached to a digital phone network, used over IP phones, or in conjunction with DSL service without the lines being conditioned. This is a small device which hides the higher frequency noise from the fax machine. Any sort of signal shared on the lines may interfere with sending, recieving, or both. If you use DSL for example, I'd almost guarentee this is part of your problem.

Error 232 receiving fax

fax error 232 indicates a communication failure between the sending and receiving units. I'd check for line noise on the phone (you can hear it as cracks and pops) If your fax line is not dedicated, any noise from another phone pickup or an answwering machine can cause the failure.

Recieving fax error

It could be a bad drum unit. If the drum doesnt turn smoothly it will make a clicking or grinding noise since it is gear driven. Take out the drum and turn the gear with your thumb. turm towards you. If difficult Thats it. It also could be a fuser gear. good luck Lawrence
