I have a vitra minimax mixer tap needing a new cartridge. The problem is how to get into the mixer to change the cartridge - any advice on how to get into the tap much appreciated.

I've just done this. It is much the same as stated above. Isolate the water by turning the service valves below the sink 1/4 turn (Off). They look like flat-head screw heads or may have levers on (usually red & blue). Open the tap to check & drain the water in the tap. Below the tap handle there is a little round cap with the (red & blue) hot/cold indicator. This is plastic, so carefully prise it out (plug the sink first!). Now you can insert a 2.5mm Allen key in the hole and loosen a grub screw - you shouldn't need to remove it, just enough to release & remove the lever head. Next, unscrew the domed top. I used duct tape for extra grip as there was a bit of limescale. Now the Hex bolt is exposed. You need a 32mm spanner for this. Maybe grip the tap to avoid damaging it or the sink. Under the bolt is the cartridge. It should just pull out, but I had to struggle. Inspect & change your cartridge or washers - depending on what the problem is. My tap was held to the sink with a couple of bolts and had flexible hoses, so I took the opportunity to loosen the body, clean the limescale ring/dirt under the tap body and remount the it. You may as well clean / descale the other parts too. Now just reverse the above to put the tap back together. Open and close the tap to check for leaks. If there's still a problem, check the cartridge is properly seated and the washers are all good etc.

How to remove touchpad for cleaning gateway ID58 notebook Windows 7 i have all screws off back, removed battery and hard drive, silver strips on side seem to be the next step

Hi,

Power off the Gateway laptop, then disconnect the AC adapter from the power jack. Remove any other devices connected to the laptop.
2

Place your hand on a bare metal surface to release any buildup of static electricity. Close the lid to your laptop and turn the computer over.
3

Slide the battery lock over to the side to pop the battery out from its compartment.
4

Set the battery aside, then turn your computer over once again so that it's facing up. Rotate the laptop so that the back (not the bottom) is facing you.
5

Remove the two screws securing the bezel in place from the back of the laptop.
6

Open the lid to the laptop, then insert a flat-head screwdriver underneath one end of the bezel to loosen it from the top cover. The bezel is located just above the keyboard, but below the monitor.
7

Carefully remove the bezel the rest of the way. Insert the end of the flat-head screwdriver underneath the top of the keyboard to pull it away from the laptop.
8

Turn the keyboard over and place it face-down on the top cover. Remove the cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. You may need to pull back and unlock a connector securing the cable in place.
9

Set the keyboard aside. Remove the four screws located just beneath the display panel, then remove the cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard. Carefully set the LCD display aside.
10

Remove the four screws located near the center of the top cover. Release small blue and white cable connecting the touchpad to the Gateway laptop.
11

Pull the top cover up from the base of the laptop, removing the touchpad along with it.

Regards,
Ron

Need to replace ignition switch

Remove steering wheel ( phillips screws to remove horn, 19mm nut in centre), remove shrouds over column( phillips screws) , remove shroud above footwell ( the one that covers the fuse box etc , phillips screws again) undo the column and let it drop down ( 12mm head bolts up from underneath, directly below speedo )
You will see that the ignition switch/ steering lock is a grey casting held in by shiny bolts with no heads.
The easiest way to remove is to use a hacksaw and cut slots in the top of the bolts so that you can insert a flat bladed screwdriver and undo them ( this will involve cutting the casting as well, only cut enough to slot the bolts, don't cut the casting in half ! )
Some people prefer to use a pin punch and a hammer to tap the bolts around till the come loose, the choice is yours!
The loom is held into the lock mechanism by one phillips head bolt , undo this and remove the switch.
You are now ready to install your replacement lock.
Just repeat steps in reverse, make sure the lock part of the barrel sits neatly in the hole in the column before you tighten the bolts ( using the slots you cut earlier and a screwdriver.)
There may be slight differences as I am used to right hand drive corollas but my experience is that most things are generic.

Samsung camcorder SMX-F34BN. Need to replace hand grip. Have replacement part, but do not know how to remove old and replace. Help

Hi,
Follow the steps to replace hand grip :
Remove two screws near battery
Remove the tiny screws on each side of the hand grip release.
Once screws are removed, gently prise of button. Do not attempt to remove the lever.
Remove the four screws holding the eyepiece in place.
Once the four screws are removed, pull out the eyepiece, notice the button that operates the cartridge access.
On the top of the camera, using a pointed tool and light hammer, gently tap in an anti-clockwise direction.
Now slowly lift from the front, taking care not to damage the power zoom buttons on the other side, and slide towards rear of camera to remove cover.
With the camera facing you, remove screws below the lens, then gently remove the side cover above the hand grip.
Use a blade to scrap away glue around the two screw heads, then remove screws. Then, using a pointed tool, insert into one of the small holes, and using a light hammer, gently tap to unscrew the hand grip screw.
Thats it hand grip is removed . Now replace the hand grip and follow the above steps in vice versa .

Hope this helps .

How do i refill ny worcester junior 24i combi boiler? as i cannot get the pilot light to light

Two types dependent on age
Early - in the mains water inlet pipe there should be a service valve/tap which when turned on will refill [it is close to or part of the fill loop - a metal braided flexible pipe
Later - underneath there is a hole for a plastic tap [supplied with boiler] to be inserted [usually just right of center] Insert and turn 90 degrees then close to it another small knob or 2nd tap which when turned [same action as a basin tap] will refill. If the first tap is not inserted properly water will drip out past its seals
For both Refill to about 1.5 - 2 bar and turn off
For the later as above but also remove the 1st tap

Taking Apart the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000

There are two hidden screws under the two stickers on the back of the keyboard. Just feel around for slight indentations and stick your screwdriver bit down into it and unscrew. Keep in mind though, this may void your warranty.

95 INTERIOR HANDLE

Hi. Please allow me to assist you. Assuming that you do NOT have a phillips screw in the middle of the door handle, here is what you do:

Take a long, flat tool (a butter knife works best); and insert the knife right above the door lock button, in the little horizontal gap, and pry out, and then below the button, and pry out again. What you are doing is removing the trim around the handle, and the trim is also the cup-like thing behind the pull lever. Once the trim is loose, remove it towards the front of the car, and the handle assembly will be visible. This is quite easy.
