Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Slim (PSP-2000) Console
The PSP system (model PSP-2001 and PSP-3001) includes a video-out port which allows users to connect and play the PSP system on an external display or television with AV inputs. It is important to note -- you can
Component AV Cables (model SCPH-98550)
The Component AV Cables connect to the Video Out Port on the bottom of the PSP-2001 or PSP-3001 systems and allow you to output video and audio signal to a television display. The AV Cables support photos, videos (including UMD movies), music, and games. Please note for games to output onto an external display, the display must support progressive scan.
Composite AV Cables (model SCPH-98548)
The AV Cables connect to the Video Out Port on the bottom of the PSP-2001 or PSP-3001 systems and allow you to output video and audio signal toa television display. The AV Cables support photos, videos (includingUMD movies), and music. However, output of games are only supported by PSP-3001.

You have to switch your video output settings after you have the psp plugged in to the tv. If you do it before you have it plugged in you wont be able to see what you are doing, also be sure to switch it back to psp display before disconnecting the Tvl. You can buy the av cable on ebay for under $10

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hi. From what I have read, you need a progressive scan TV (basically an HDTV), to be able to view games on your TV using the psp-2000 with cable.
The other alternative, only one I know of is:

you have to manually change the output in the settings menu back to ANALOG Using an HDMI TV or monitor 1st, when you select RCA, or AV output and restart, it will work, but when you switch back, you have to change it (back to HDMI output) on the analog monitor, or use analog TV inputs, then reboot PS3 and connect HDMI.
I do not know why Sony did not make this switch automatic and self scanning on boot, but alas I have had the same issue, so I know this is your problem, not the AV cables.
Please give a fixya rating if you find this solves your problem, Thanks for the question
