I have tried to install a motorola sm56 (motorola_sm56.exe) and the oem HP Lucent win modem (agere). When I boot up xp finds the correct modem then gives the Wizard could not install this device. The required section was not found in the INF

I do not know about if you have all latest updates or not but I will assume that you have them, go and delete the driver for the modem and download another one making sure that you delete and restart the computer every time you change something, then go to the file INF folder and delete the file. Now after you start fresh go and check device manager/system and see if you have any error. The issue is that one of the drivers is not compatible with it despite the updates …let me know how that work for you and please do not forget to rate my service so we can improve on it with your help.
