My daughter had her grandfather's laptop on the floor. She stood up pushing down on the laptop as she stood up. The are no visible cracks on the screen, but there are black lines on the screen. Can anything be done to fix this?

    Are the black lines random or are they vertical or horizontal and if so how wide are they?

Probably will have to replace the screen. Find a replacement screen on eBay and a dexterous electronics type to install it. There is a SLIGHT chance that one of the flourescent backlight tubes was broken, but likely the LCD panel has been damaged beyond repair.

You possibly cracked your screen or caused the ribbon cable to disconnect when you dropped it and just can't see what the error codes are saying. Is probably asking you if you'd like to start in safe mode with the beeps but you can't see it with a cracked screen or disconnected ribbon cable. Take it to a repair shop for a diagnosis.

Our daughter was not feeling well and lost her

It isnt hard at all to do. There are many walk throughs online to guide ya through. Just take your time and have patience. Other things you should look for (that i can think of) can only really be determined after you replace the lcd screen. Dropping a laptop like that can damage the hard drive and therefore losing data or your operating system.

I have crack in my shower floor concrete, would like to fix it before laying tiles and hope it won't be visible after i am done with tiles. I had tiles before wich I am removing now and will instal new...

There is a tile backer, kinda of like fiberglass mesh, I have also seen a waffle looking plastic, that will go down over the crack in the floor and will not effect the tile one bit. You just tile over everything, no mastic, no set under this stuff, no fasteners, just tile over it like a normal floor, and the best part is, no crack! Hope this helps.

Seatbelt cannot lock

try unbolting the female section from the car floor and beating it against the floor while it is upside down. My car had the same problem when my daughter dropped potato chip crumbs into the connetor. You can also try running hot water inside the latch (once it is out) incase someone spilled soda in the latch.

Linksys Range Expander...

Hi,

Initially, it is possible that the WRE54G has not been configured to talk with WiFi AP/Router downstairs and all that is needed is to configure/set it up.

Setup (to be done in the same room where your WiFi AP/Router is installed and preferably with your daughter's laptop which can already connect to your network when it is near):
1. Download the LinkSys WRE54G Setup Wizard from the LinkSys site;
2. Use a LAN cable connection to the WRE54G Ehternet port (located underneath a flip lid in front panel) to one of your daughter's laptop;
3. Power up the LinkSys Expander;
4. Press the Range Expander’s Auto Configuration button for about five seconds. Normally this should be sufficient for the Expander to auto-detect and auto-configure itself;
5. Power off;
6. Move the Expander to your intended place of installation;
7. Again using your daughter's laptop, expand/install the downloaded LinkSys Setup Wizard. Soon as the program is running, follow the on screen instructions. Please don't forget to Save before exiting.
8. Move your daughter's laptop to its intended location and try the system.

Should you still need a User's Guide, it is available here.

Another possibility that we cannot discount is that the WRE54G is also not reaching your router downstairs. Perhaps what can be done is installing it not a floor down from your daughter's but halfway between your daughter's floor and your office downstairs.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post again how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
