My Office 07 will not open, so I was going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it, but when I go into Control Panel to uninstall Office 07 a window pops up saying, "This product installation has been corrupted. Run setup from CD, DVD, or other installation device." So when i try to reinstall it starts to, but a little more than halfway through I get an error that says, " Error 25004.config.xml. A valid config.xml file must be authored when deploying '(null)'. What can I do to get Office reinstalled on my computer?

I bought a Dell Laptop which runs on Vista and came with a preinstalled MS office 2007. After a month it suddenly stopped working. I was trying to uninstall the program from Control Panel but a msg pops up saying, "This product installation has been corrupted. Run setup from CD, DVD, or other installation device." So when i try to reinstall it starts to, but a little more than halfway through I get an error that says, " Error 25004.config.xml. A valid config.xml file must be authored when deploying '(null)'.

I am having the same problem as everyone else with this config.xml thing appearing when I am trying to install Office 2007 Home and Student. The first answer DOES NOT WORK because I never had any pre-release Office software on my system, so I would really appreciate if someone else could look for another solution to this.
I solved this problem myself once, but I cannot remember how I did it or figure out how to do it again.

Same error message but there is no current version of Microsoft Office working. Had computer problem, HP took back to fix but wiped out the MS Works office files so I purchased again. Maybe a hidden file is the issue?

I used support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/ to manually uninstall Office 2007 Home and Student. Once I followed each of the steps in the article, rebooted my system; the program would install again, otherwise half way through it would stop with error 25004 message. Hopes this helps anyone!

You need to uninstall any pre-release version of the Microsoft Office 2007 system .

it seems that if you have a version of the 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in or Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS installed, this may be the culprit. In both cases, by performing an uninstall on this add-in via the Control Panel, and then installing Expression Web, everything works okay. You can even re-install the Office 2007 add-in when you're done.

Uninstall the microsoft office from the control panel in vista ... it will ask for a particular file... have it access that particular file by showing the path.. then something will happen... but still the microsoft office will remain in the control panel.... now re-install the microsoft office and it will get installed.... this is how it worked for me. The way I fixed mine was by doing a system restore, and restoring it back to before I had installed Office 2007 the first time and then I installed it again, and that worked for me.

Hello there.

If you have previous versions of MS Office 2007 they must be uninstalled prior to installing a different version. Please try this first and report back.

If the version of windows installed on your computer is not activated you would face issues to use any applications once the product is expired.

But if you have an issue with office programs with an error 25004 on an activated version of windows
Then the reason might be corrupted installation of office 2007 on the computer.
Uninstall office 2007 manually from the computer then
re-install it and check if it helps.

Try renaming the install directory. Normal install is located C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12. Rename office12 to office12bak (just in case you need to put it back again). This will normally allow you to reinstall office again.

Unable to install ms office 2007, upgrading from Office 2003

Hi,
please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.
Thanks
