My xbox 360 won't come on. We had a power outage in our area and the xbox was on when the power went out. Now it does not come on. What can I do?

First and fore most make sure that the power outage is already fixed on your area, then if yes

hard reset teh console by pressing the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, then check if will turn on

How do we solve the 2 red light problem on my xbox 360

That depends on whether it's just a gap between the heat sinks
and the chips G.P.U. or more likely the C.P.U. in which case
you will need to disassemble your console and remove both
x clamps and heat sinks, clean them off and replenish the
heatsink compound ( Articsilver5 ) works well then reassemble
your console and test . This is more common with units that
are played vertically. If the console continues to overheat ( 2 reds)
then the problem is a little more serious . 30% of the time
it's a broken connection under the G.P.U. but there a chance
that the internal thermostat is damaged the towel trick can
cause this type of fatal error. But let think positive it's
far more likely the you just need to replace the heat sink compound.

Xbox 360 has 3ROD w/error code 0020. It used to be 0102

Open your Xbox again, remove the motherboard and take off the heat sinks.

Clean the heat sink compound off of the the CPU, GPU, and both heat sinks using 91% alcohol. The CPU & GPU should be as shiney as a mirror when your finished.

The next step is to apply Artic Silver 5 Thermal compound to both processors using just enough to cover the processors, then put your system back together again and give it a try.

If it still doesn't work you may want to try to find someone who knows how to do a reflow. If you go this route, becareful who you choose. Ask for referrals and most importantly, ask for a picture of the equipment they will use to "attempt" to fix your Xbox.

If you get a picture of a standard Heat Gun... find someone else.

Be aware that even after a reflow, your Xbox is still subject to failure again. Microsoft can't even fix them permanently.

You're already familiar with opening your Xbox and taking it apart so you may want to consider learning how to do a reflow yourself.

There's also the option of buying a new Xbox but there's a good chance you'll still be facing another failure in the future. the difference will be that the new Xbox will be covered under warranty for a period of time depending on the problem.

I've heard that new consoles with a Jasper cpu tend to be more reliable but I've not seen any scientific data to back up this claim.

Good luck, I'm in the same boat with 2 broken and have decided to buy a reflow station to repair my own instead of paying Microsoft.

Slow and jumpy

Hi there,

your facing a heat problem im affraid, if your PS3 is out of date i sugguest you take it apart using this guide here.

once you get to your CPU and GPU you will notice the thermal compound has cracked and dryed up, i sugguest cleaning this all over and laping it with wet and dry paper, pref 1200 to 1800 grain then buys some Artic Silver 5 compound from ebay, under £5, apply a line corner to corner and spread with a credit card all the way accoss as thin as you can get it, the thinner the better, do this on both.

should be sorted then matey :)

Console freezes up after a short time

Hi There,

I have had this problem, as my PS3 is now out of warrenty i have decided to fix it myself, so if your PS3 is out of warrenty aswel i sugguest you do the following, if not then send it back to sony.

The problem seems to be a over heating, you will notice this as the fan kicks in to high power after about 10mins.

What you need to do is disassemble it, heres a guide that can help you:

After this you will see the CPU and GPU, the problem there is the thermal compound on it, its dry and cracked and not enough, u need to clean all this off and buy some Artic Silver 5 Compound, on ebay for under £5, you then need to place some on the CPU and GPU corner to corner then smooth it across with a card, as thin as you can! then put it all back together.

problem solved

Ps3 keeps switching off

It's overheating. That's why it works longer the first time and you have to wait a few minutes for it to cool. Try using some compressed air and cleaning the vents out below. If that doesn't work then you'll have to remove and replace the thermal compound on the GPU and CPU.

well if you would not have opened up your console nd messed with it you would still be covered by the 3 year warrenty and would be able to recieve a new console from xbox support now i think you must pay a fee for repair you can call them at 1-800-4myxbox
