Question about Sony STR-DG910

1 Answer

I can only receive the strongest local radio stations. I have tried an external antenna but no significant change. Also the sound for TV is not what I expected. I am using HDMI cable to a Sony XBR TV. I have used "auto calibrate" and can hear each speaker, but little to no sound from broadcast from the rear speakers regardless of source. Unit came in Sony box with "non-english" wording.

I have a Magnavox tv.. and I brought a ematic AT 103B converter box.. I can only get 11-1 and 11-2 and 11-3, I did a channel search.. and still can not get other channel's.. Katrina

Usually this means that you need a different antenna or to move your antenna. If you are using an indoor antenna, you may need an external antenna. Make sure that the antenna is pointing to the transmitters. If you have an amplifier on the antenna, it may be damaged and could be blocking some frequencies. In that case, you may need to replace the antenna or the amplifier. In some places, surrounding objects can block the signal; trees and buildings are the frequent problems.

Please use http://www.tvfool.com to check where the local stations transmitters are located and the recommended antenna to receive each station. ( http://www.antennaweb.org is a similar resource but usually is too conservative in the list of available stations.)

I hope this helps.

(In my case, I point a large external antenna towards the local stations farthest away. This lets me receive those stations and the ones from closer transmitters. If the antenna rotates, I lose some local stations but may gain access to stations that are outside my area. Then I have to climb up and turn the antenna. I tried an antenna rotor but it eventually burned out.)

Have sirius and hands free phone features with sirius antennae. I do not get good signals from local FM or AM Radio stations. Why?

Sirius is a satellite biased service , so it uses a satellite antenna , local stations how ever don't use that antenna and use a dipole antenna , are both type antenna's connected to your radio , lots of installers don't bother to connect local antenna to new radio installs , im mean you got Sirius why'd you want local stuff anyway is there thinking

Only 2 FM stations working. I have an Insignia Stereo receiver. At first, we could get all of the FM stations, then all of a sudden we can only get two. The antenna has not been moved from where it or

If you have an external antenna, check you antenna connections.
Weather can change your reception. Are the stations you can hear local? within 30 miles? Or is there an amplifier on your antenna system? It may have quit functioning. if you have cable TV you might want to hook up your stereo to that system, you will need a 75 to 300ohm adapter that you can pick up from an electronics store or online.

Got a midland weather radio problem wr100 series. all county codes in and channel set. was working for awhile and now no alerts at all. keeps now saying check reception.

Turn your radio off and then on again. Then press the weather/snooze button. Do you hear the broadcast from your local transmitter? Check NOAA to make sure the station is broadcasting (not down for repairs). Try setting the radio to a different transmitter that covers your area.

You may need an external antenna for the radio (http://www.midlandradio.com/Weather-Radio-Accessories.BPE/18-259W ). Beware: when you use an external antenna, you may receive a broadcast from a different transmitter (farther away). In that case, the weather alerts for your county will likely not come in.

I hope this helps.

(we have two weather radios that are on full-time. The one set to a secondary transmitter does not receive the S.A.M.E. test signals or watches. (It can't be positioned to receive from the primary transmitter clearly.) It does receive warnings for the county correctly. The on/off routine has to be done every few weeks since it doesn't get the test signals. We tried an external antenna and kept getting transmitters from other states and missed tests, watches and warnings. Fortunately our main weather radio does get the primary transmitter and gets the tests, watches and warnings.)

How do we get more radio stations from our Bose ???? We live in Campbell River on Vancouver Island, B.C. + would like to get stations from Vancouver, not just the local stations in Campbell River

Have you tried connecting an external antenna to the radio ? There should be a connection for an FM and an AM antenna at the back of the
radio.

I can receive only the strongest signals eg from USCG or very local transmissions. Antenna cable connections checked out. Nobody can receive my test transmissions. Do I need a bench test of my set?

Try a new antenna first. If you have the same results and the PL259 connector is the solder type and it is soldered properly then I would take the radio to a test shop for them to test.

The phono works, but i get no sound when tuner on

This usually means that the tuner is not getting sufficient reception for the station you are trying to listen to.

Receivers come with cheap wire loop antennas try upgrading to a powered FM antenna available online or at your local Radio Shack.

Hope that helps

I cannot get a signal with converter box and Philips indoor antenna

Try to manually enter the local DTV Station Channels, instead of letting the converter scan for channels. And try moving the antenna and then re-entering the DTV channel.

You should really have an external antenna that is matched to your local reception needs.

contact your local TV stations, their engineers will be more than happy to help.

Storing the strongest broadcast
frequencies
BSM (best stations memory) lets you automatically
store the six strongest broadcast frequencies.
1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select BSM in
the function menu.
2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn BSM on.
The six strongest broadcast frequencies are
stored in the order of their signal strength.
# To cancel, press MULTI-CONTROL again.
Tuning in strong signals
Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those
radio stations with sufficiently strong signals
for good reception.
% Press LOCAL repeatedly to select the
desired setting.
FM: OFF—LEVEL1—LEVEL2—LEVEL3—
LEVEL4
MW/LW: OFF—LEVEL1—LEVEL2
The LEVEL4 setting allows reception of only
the strongest stations, while lower settings let
you receive progressively weaker stations.

You can also perform this operation in the menu
that appears by using MULTI-CONTROL.
Selecting alternative frequencies
When the tuner cannot get a good reception,
the unit automatically searches for a different
station in the same network.
1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select AF in the
function menu.
2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn AF on.
# To turn off, press MULTI-CONTROL again.

! Only RDS stations are tuned in during seek
tuning or BSM when AF is on.
! When you recall a preset station, the tuner
may update the preset station with a new frequency
from the station’s AF list. No preset
number appears on the display if the RDS
data for the station received differs from that
of the originally stored station.
! During AF search, sound may be temporarily
interrupted.
! AF can be turned on or off independently for
each FM band.
