Question about Hotpoint HSS25GFP Side by Side Refrigerator

Fridge is making noise

Hotpoint HSS25GFP D WW
We have had it 4 years now. Almost from day one it has made moans and groans when running. We were able to ignore the sounds mostly, although lately it is starting to have a high pitch tone. It is driving me and my dog crazy listening to it.

my owner's manual doesn't show the location of the evap fan motor. any help with locating it will be helpful. interestingly enough, the owners manual actually has a page that describes odd noises the owner will hear and goes on to say how it's normal. one is a high pitch hum, indicating the compressor is running efficiently. hmmm. i hope it's the evap fan motor - i just need to figure own where the motor is.

The high pitched sound could be from the evap fan motor. If you can get to it a drop of silicon oil would solve the problem.

Is compressor (black canister)running? It should be very warm if it is. If not, motherboard is most likely bad.

Why does my GE Arctica Side by Side refrigerator make groaning noise?

All new refrigeratos make some sort of groaning noise and this noise is heared at diffrent times of the day. This noise you are hearing is what we call refrigerant noise. As the liquid frigerant is moved through the system it gets to a point were it will enter the capillary tube at this point the frigerant flashes in to a gas (changes from a liquid to a gas) when this happens it tends to make moaning and groaning noises. There is no real fix for this noise.

Fridge in storage for 4 yrs, now not cooling

Good day,
After that much time, be sure the fan motor in the freezer compartment is running, as well as the fan motor on the back bottom behind the cover by the compressor. Either could well have frozen up after 4 years of storage.
As well a refrigerant leak could have developed because of the time frame. However, if it is less then 5 years old, the sealed system would still be under factory warranty.

Very common. Most likely you need a main control board, located in the back of the fridge.

Fridge makes loud moaning sound

It is the control board. There is a recall on certain models and serial #'s that will cover the parts, but not all are covered. do a google search for hotpoint or GE howling noise. you will find out all the info you need.

Noisy Refrigerator

hi there i'am affraid that the noise you are getting from your fridge is normal this is due to the illegal use of r12 refridgerant gas as from 1999, the replacement gas is r600 which is ozone friendly but can be rather noisy giving off a whiriny' hissing, groaning and some times like water falling.

hope this is of some help
