All connections on all units in my system have been unplugged and replugged in. Is it possible there is a problem with the remote itself? Remote still shows system error 1.

Replace the usb wire.then check.the problem is either the usb wire or the usb port where wire is inserted.first replace the usb wire and confirm whether its wire or port where wire is inserted.if port is faulty then it needs internal soldering.its not expensive.but needs to be opened to get the port out.it gets loose from its connections internally.so the unit does not detect the device.

yes it can be possible that remote is faulty if all the connections are proper.actually there is a IR sensor in the remote and in the unit to which the remote operated.if any of the IR sensor is faulty then this error can be shown.but most probably the remote gets faulty then the opposite unit.but in some cases the opposite unit to which remote aims gets faulty.so first option is get remote replaced and check out.you can also take the remote to proper electronics shop they actually have device to check if the remote is faulty you can get it replaced but if not then opposite units IR sensor needs to be replaced.

The unit displays the error message "System Error 1" and "1. Disconnect form USB 2. Remove and re-insert batteries". I've done that and can't get error message to go away. The remote seems frozen.

Hey!

I had this same issue and when I contacted Logitech, they told me it was a memory failure and I needed a replacement harmony remote. I was still under warranty so I got a replacement.

I would advise you contact Logitech to see if you are still in your warranty period so you can get a replacement!
