Hi, Bruce.

Unfortunately, it is not just a matter of changing your computer settings. The operating system would need to be installed, including your hardware drivers. Would be daunting for a novice and challenging for an experienced person, depending on the computer you have.

Hope this helps.

1.: Click the Windows Vista logo, which is usually at the lower-left of the screen
2.: Click "Control Panel"
3.: Make sure "Control Panel Home" is selected in the pane on the left
4.: Click "Appearane and Personalization"
5.: Click "Personalization"
6.: Click "Theme"
7.: Click on the drop-down menu, and choose "Windows Classic"
8.: Click "Apply"

You should now have the Windows 2000 theme.

You can try putting in Administrator and leave password field blank and see if it works, otherwise try one of the following:

- see this for XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305
- or this for Vista/Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/What-to-do-if-you-forget-your-Windows-password
- or if anything else didn't work you can use third party software from Hiren's Boot CD to reset your login password http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download.html

What platform (WIndows XP, etc.) can the 9000 digitizer use?

Digitizer 2000? Or Digitizer 10000?

There's a BIG difference.

So far, it doesn't seem that Janome's put out an update to Digitizer 2000 for Vista (though they have for Customizer 2000), but they have for Digitizer 10000.

However, XP should be fine with Digitizer. You may have to go into your "Properties" menu for Digitizer and set the compatibility back to say, "Windows 95" though.

To do this, right-click on the software icon for Digitizer on your desktop. On the contextual menu will appear several choices - select "Properties" and then click on the "Compatibility" tab on the Properties dialog box. This is where you change how your computer (essentially) recognizes the application.

You may need to experiment with the options. Try "Windows 95" first ... and if that doesn't work, select and try another.

User access

what version of vista are you using, this is a very important piece of information, vista home flavors are not very network friendly,I recommend that you keep using XP until a few service packs are out for vista. If your using ultimate then something else would be wrong, possibly a setting on the vista box, Im not real sure how vista's authentication works but if they changed it enough then it might require a compatiblity mode or something in order to authenticate with 2000/xp, but then again i could be wrong and vista might authenticate exactly the same way as 2000/xp, try setting an xp box up as a server and see if the vista box can authenticate with it, if so then maybe 2000 is the problem, sorry i couldnt give an actual solution but im still new to vista myself and dont have any pc's that will run it, my good computers are all macs.
