Re: sreekidu

Sounds like a common problem where the Horizontal Output Transistor shorts due to heat, loading by a partially shorted flyback or yoke or old dried heat sink2.gif compound.
or could be convergance amp ic's

The power went out tonight and now the TV wont turn on. When the power went out the TV was off. I have tried reseting the TV several time to no avail. The green timer light just keeps flashing. Any ideas...

Either the capacitors are shot or the high-voltage transformer aka power supply is shot. You can test power from transformer to main board with a voltmeter. you can test the resistance/continuity of any capacitor with a mulit-meter in the ohm position.

Power light blinks 6 times

1. What is your resolution setting?
2. Sometimes that your resolution might be set to high. Adjust the resolution and see if this corrects the problem.
3. If not then you might have a problem with the power supply might be shot and repaired.

Sometimes a part can go shorted, and an over voltage occures somewheres thus causing another part to blow. This can be anywhere from in the power supply to any of the other boards.

The set would have to be serviced to determine the cause and what was damaged. Most likely there will be the need to change some boards. Most of the service is done by a combination of board replacement and some component replacement depending on the exact type of fault.

STOP THE PRESS!! I FIXED MY TV for a whopping $26.

I took a wild shot and purchased two STK392-110 convergence amplifiers from They ship fast, placed my order on Tuesday evening after coming here and placing my comment. To my suprise the parts were in my mailbox on Friday. The parts were actually $12 but I also picked up a iron and a solder sucker.

So rarewish4us, If you're in the South Florida area I'd be more than happy to take that "JUNK" off your hands. LOL
If I were you, I'd give it a shot before you junk it.

Good luck,
