How to install dryer belt for a ge model dbsr453gb3ww

  • Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall.

  • 2

Remove the top of the dryer by opening the door and taking out the screws along the top of the opening, then lifting the top. Remove the front of the dryer by reaching down into the opening at the top and taking out the screws holding the front in place. Move the front piece out of the way just enough so you can get to the drum inside, without disconnecting the electrical wires running from the front piece to the unit.

  • 3

Move to the back of the dryer and remove the screws holding on the small access panel at the bottom. Remove the panel. This will give access to the two pulleys holding the thin belt that runs around the drum. With your pencil and paper, draw a diagram showing exactly how the pulleys are strung. Then slip the belt off the pulleys so it's hanging loosely on the drum.

  • 4

Return to the front of the dry and pull the belt off the drum from the front. Put the new belt on the drum from the front, laying the ribbed side against the surface of the drum.

  • 5

Return to the back of the dryer and restring the belt through the two pulleys, using your diagram as a guide. Use your hands to manually turn the drum at least one full turn to make sure the belt is lined up.

How do I open it to get access to change the belt?

All maytags i have encountered open from the front. There should be two screws at the bottom of the front or under opening of door. The top pops off and opens up to lay back. Swing front over to side of machine being carfull of door switch wiring.Look through botttom of dryer and you will see motor and idler pulley setup. belt is routed around drum, under pulley and around motor shaft. Hope this helps.

How do I change the drive belt?

Unplug the dryer.
Remove the lint filter.
Remove the 2 screws at the lint filter opening.
Use a putty knife between the top lid and the front panel to release the clips.
They are about 2 inches in from right and left sides where the top meets the front panel.
Lift the lid towards the rear of the dryer.
Look inside the top right and left corners of the front panel and remove the screws holding the front to the cabinet. Remove the door switch wires and set the door aside.
Place the new belt over the drum, ribbed side towards the drum.
Look under the drum for the belt tensioner. It is S shaped with a wheel on it.
Place the base of the tensioner in the slots below the motor pulley.
Feed the right side of the belt through the opening under the wheel with the smooth side of the belt touching the wheel.
Place this side of the belt over the motor pulley with the ribbed side touching the pulley.
Replace the front panel.
Hook up the door switch wires.
Replace the panel screws.
Reattach the top lid and lint filter screws. Replace the lint filter.
Plug in the dryer.

What's the easiest way to open up a dlb6850 dryer to check the belt?

Unplug the dryer.
The easiest way to check the belt is remove the plate on the lower rear of the dryer. Look in to see if the belt is attached around the pulley wheel.
The only way to change the belt is to remove the screws in the front panel. Open the door. Look up in the door opening and remove these screws. Then you can raise the lid.
If the belt needs changing you must remove the 2 screws in the top right and left sides of the front panel.Just inside the front panel. Then disconnect the door switch wires and remove the front panel.
Slip the belt over the drum. Then open the lower rear panel to reach in to put the belt around the tension pulley.

Need to change belt on maytag dryer but dont know how to do it on this model . any help would be great

Get the Model number and order a Dryer Maint Kit from either of these sites.

If you have the belt already then open the dryer door and there should be a couple screws in the opening where the door normally closes at the top. Remove those and then the door should be able to completely come off then you will have access to the belt area.
Good Luck!

I wanr to change the drum belt - hotpoint dlb1550pllwh

hi, do this Step 1 Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall. Take out the upside-down screws in front that hold down the top. In older Hotpoint models, they will be under the rim of the top in front. In newer models, they will be on the inside of the dryer door opening, facing up. Slide your putty knife under the top rim to pry it up and get your fingers under it. Lift the top off the machine and set it aside.
  • Step 2 Take out the screws that hold the front of the dryer in place, which will be on the upper inside of the box, on either side, facing toward the front. Pull the dryer front off. Keep the side with the wire connections next to the dryer (so you don't have to disconnect the wires) while opening the other side away from it like a door. The wiring side will vary.
  • Step 3 Slip the belt off the dryer drum from the front. It won't come out completely; it will be held in one lower corner by the motor assembly.
  • Step 4 Remove the access panel on the lower part of the back of the dryer by removing the screws. Access the motor unit. Note the configuration of the belt in the pulleys, then slip the belt off the pulleys by pushing the larger pulley forward.
  • Step 5 Slip the new belt onto the drum from the front, with the ribbed side against the drum. Re-string it on the pulleys from the back, in the same configuration as the old one. Manually turn the drum several revolutions to make sure the belt is straight.
  • Step 6 Put the rear access panel back on with the screws you took out. Close and re-secure the front and top (in that order) as they were before. Plug in the dryer.

  • thank you
