My battery is not charging on my motorcycle - Harley Davidson Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Desktop Telephone

Most battieries are only good for about 3 yrs. i highly recommend you keep it on a battery tender one you replace it. a tender will monitor the level and if it drops to 12.0 it will recharge it back to 13.4 or so. check your charger too as the new batteries can only take a 2 amp charge or you will fry it.my advise is take the battery out and bring it to the local h-d dealer. they will put it on charge overnight and test it in the morning. very possible it is bad and time for a new one. however, if the battery is new but keeps draining while riding then your stator is probably gone.

How long do i charge ever start 16b battery after filling with acid

Hi Anonymous, the "ABSOLUTE" best way is let the battery acid soak into the plates for 1 hour then connect a 1 or 2 amp trickle charger and let it charge for 24 hours for maximum battery life. Read my lips "DO NOT" use a higher rate charger for less hours it will shorten your overall battery life, trust me I was a Harley technician for over 40 years. How does the charging system on a 1969 Honda 325 cc motorcycle work to keep engine running?

I think you mean a 69 CB350. It sounds like you have a bad battery since the battery charger won't charge it.

On this bike there is an alternator and rectifier that combine to charge the battery whenever the engine runs. If the battery won't hold a charge, the charging system wont work.

Replace the battery.

Motorcycle battery charging

Use a trickle charger no more than 2 amps. Initial charge will take 8-16 hours if done this way. The dealership can put a service charge on it which usually takes an hour, but I have found that the battery doesn't last as long this way.

How to charge a new motorcycle battery

New Battery charge at 2 amps or lower overnight for best results. However a quick charge enough to start the bike is fine as long as you ride it for a good hour to charge it and stabilize. I would just charge overnight though.

Wont turn over

First thing always is charge the battery. The top of the battery reads the proper amperage, and motorcycle stores will push their trickle chargers, or battery tenders, which won't actually charge it. Please make sure you disconnect the battery before you charge it.

Starts good with a jump from other battery ,but when i take cables off my motorcycle then trunes off.

Battery and/or charging system is not good. Put charger on battery, bring to full charge, then put load tester on battery ensuring battery not weak or a dead cell. If battery is good, check charging system.
