Question about Cameras
Stupid Win-doze seems to convert all my images to jpg when I download from my Canon 40D to my laptop (which runs XP Home OS).
The laptop has no DVD/CD drive - just two USB ports. I bought it forAlaska just to download and save images - then got home and much to mychagrin found that all my images were JPG and none of the RAW shots Itook were in RAW. I managed, but now I am taking another trip and I wantRAW files, not JPG!
I searched Canon's site for hours and went to DPD review and other places and still have no answers.
First, you must set the camera to take RAW pictures. Check your manual for the correct procedure. Second, you must have a program on your computer to read the RAW files. Sometimes, cameras come with software to do this. Photoshop Elements and Photoshop are both capable of reading RAW files.
