I'd lik t restore my emacns e620 laptop to the original factory settings but I dont have the disk... can still do this?

I hope i am assumming that your emachine is an acer if so i think you can do this

all programs
acer recovery
in there it should give you a few options to :-
restore back to factory settings
re install applications
and burn a recovery disk normally about 3 dvd,s
also to burn an applications disk 1 dvd

this is really worth doing because sometimes ones hard drive will crash
losing you the ability to then restore your operating system onto a new hard drive

please if you have the option do this before you try the restore
also try to save anything that you may of put onto your laptop that you want or need to keep
either burn them to disk or copy onto a pendrive or spare usb hard drive

also i think there may be an option to get into the recovery consol by
pressing the power up key as well as F10
some laptops are power key+alt+F10

good luck
please let us know if this has helped you
so that we may be able to help others

many thanks

many thanks

Use system restore and add/remove program to use system restore go to start ---> all programs
---> accessories ---> sytem tools ---> system restore .. restore your computer in earlier time...
to go to add and remove program click start ---> control panel and find add/remove program
remove the program you did not have when its new...

hope it helps god bless

How to factory rest

  • Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
  • Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.
  • Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."
  • Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.
  • Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.
  • Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.
The hard disk drive restore utility is saved on a separate partition on the Toshiba laptop's hard drive. If that partition has been formatted you won't be able to use the restore utility. If you don't have the operating system recovery disc and the partition has been formatted, you will need to contact Toshiba's customer support to have them send you a new disc.

All of your existing data will be permanently removed from the hard drive when the factory restore process has finished running.

I bought a used thinkpad a30p it has lot of stuff on it i do not want .i have no recovery disk. want to set it back to factory

Your best bet would be to Uninstall any programs you do not want, using control panel, add / remove programs. Then create a new user with administration rights and delete all other users. Go to explorer and explore the hard drive folder tree and look for folders and files that are left behind. Without a restore disk it is best not to do much else. Even if your computer has a hidden drive with install files on it, you still need that disk to access them. There are free programs on the net to help clean unwanted un-needed files and registry items. Hope this helps.

I have no backup or restore systems. I need to restore to factory settings. Please help.

There are only two ways to restore to factory settings.

1. use existing disks or purchase the original Aspire restore disks.

2. buy a new copy of Windows XP and then download any missing drivers from the Acer website.

with Item 1, if you have the original sticker under the computer showing the License Product ID code, then the replacement disks from Acer will be inexpensive. If you need a new licence as well, then the price goes up a lot!

If your company has it lock down so you can't do many administrative tasks, you may want to try this.

Tried to reboot to factory settings

You have to make sure when going through the setup (if given the option) to install a clean copy and not install windows to another directory. If you have access to a floppy disk drive an easier way would to be to create a dos boot disk and reformat your c:drive. Make sure you do not have any data on this laptop you want to save. If that does not work you can try to get a DOS program called FDISK. It will wipe out the hard drive partitions so that you can reload your laptop from scratch. Let us know how it goes.

Cant restore my acer aspire 5100

ok well first iv had nothing but bad luck with them. i think you would need to buy a new copy of windows xp, u can choose the version. you cant get your factory settings back with all the programs that acer gives you when you buy your pc, unless they send you a new hard drive. the restore cds i think with acer word from that specific restore partition on the hard drive. and with most pcs from i think 2002 and up have the F11 option with the restore partition to reset and restore your computer. when they erased your hard drive, they erased every little bit of data that was on it. me personally can restore all, if not some of the information and personal data you have. please email me the model # serial # and as much else info you can provide of your computer. and i will do as much as i can to help. if you have any more questions, please email me at
