When i turn it on it just shows the ILO symbal and flashes

In order to fix Your iLO Mp3 Player please follow these steps:

  1. Please connect the player to a rear USB port on the computer. The display should show “USB Connected”. (If not, please press the power button.)
  2. Please make sure that all unused programs and applications are closed. You can close the applications by closing as many of the icons in the lower right hand corner (by the clock) as possible.
    Download the Firmware.
  3. Click Open to initiate the download.
  4. Double click on the ILO or Siren folder icon. There will be 14 icons.
  5. There will be a Setup icon that looks like a box with a blue line on it; please double click on this.
Then click Run - this will open the Install Wizard.
  6. The Install Wizard has the instructions on the screen as you go through it.
Once the firmware has installed, please click the Start menu, then Programs.
  7. Look for the icon that says ILO or Siren, and then double click the Firmware Update to install to the player. Depending on how severe the corruption to the firmware on the player is, you might have to do this step 2 or 3 times in order for it to completely repair the firmware.

Additional Tip: The player itself requires a lot of power while flashing the firmware. We suggest disconnecting all USB devices from the computer except the MP3 player and mouse; you can reconnect your keyboard once the firmware has been flashed.

Good Luck.

Frozen Mp3 player

Most of the time, this problem only requires a simple reset. ILo went out of the Mp3 business, so the manual is no longer available to the general public. If your player came with a manual, I would double-check it to see what reset method they reccomend. Also, ILo was notorious for creating websites that were not intuitive - there was no or, for instance. If your user's manual lists a specific website, if you would kinfdly post it here - many people would benefit.

Most of the time, this freezing issue is caused because the new version of Windows Media Player, version 11, was not compatible with the iLO player. If the manual lists an address for a firmware upgrade I would use that address (and post it also). It is highly likely, however, that the firmware upgrade is not available any longer. A firmware upgrade would resolve the problem permanently.

If there is no firmware upgrade available, and the simple reset does not work, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Ilo will not go forward it will only scroll music backwards.

This player (it's not the only one) is "sticky" - it is slow to move forward and back - best bet is to stop song play completely, and THEN move forward and back

My ilo model number mp-556 suddenly stopped working so I put in a new battery and all I could get out of it was a loading screen. I did some researching online and came up with this post I followed what he said and it worked.
