Af-s compatable nikon D-40

Trying to figure out which manufacturer # lens, would be compatable with the Nikon D-40, af-s system.  One place told me # 736360 is the correct lens, and then another says that you have to buy the #736110 lens designated special forr the D-40.  I"m in the market, but dont want to purchase the wrong one.  Thank you for your time----al

You should be able to use any Nikon AF-S or Sigma HSM lens on your D40. If you want to be 100% sure, email or call Sigma from They are generally very helpful with such issues.

FEE message using Quantaray for Nikon lens

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number). You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on a lens without an aperture ring.

You can order the Tamron 2x teleconverter here. Be aware that not all lenses are compatible with teleconverters, and you can actually damage some lenses by trying to use them with a teleconverter.

Hi. Is the Nikon AF Nikkor 20-35mm 1:2.8D made for Nikon's digital cameras? Is it compatible with their whole line or just some? Thanks

No. The lens will work with every Nikon film or digital SLR made in the past three decades or so, though of course the autofocus won't work on older cameras that don't support AF.

Auto focusing problem

The D40 will only autofocus with the Nikkor AF-S lens...look for the AF-S in the lens title. For 3rd party lens, only SIGMA with the USM title will autofocus.

To use the will need to use the "Manual" mode of the camera.
