this is where you can get the shifters, there should be instructions with them or go to the sram website

What is a decent replacement rear derailleur for a Mongoose 26" Ledge 2.1 Mountain Bike?

Get the kind that has a lever shift instead of the grip shifter. The plastic part that holds the spring breaks easily. The lever shifter has been going strong on my bike for 6 years without a problem

The chain feels and sounds like it's jumping gears or slipping on the rear sprockets. It does it in all gears. It is a diamondback wildwood large 20"

The rear derailleur needs adjusting, once to establish limits (so it can't go past high gear or low gear). Everything else is up to you fine-adjusting the shifter to make the bike run quietly. If you're careless about your gear changes, you'll get MOSTLY into one gear but not quite perfectly, so the bike is always trying to start shifting into another gear - that's the sound you hear, the sensation you feel. Fine-tune your shifter positions each time you shift - you'll find a "sweet spot" where the bike runs almost perfectly silently.

No, they can't readily do that at the factory, not with chain drives. There are just too many things that can affect gear changes, and things are in a slightly different position every time you remove & replace the rear wheel, or even loosen & retighten it. Unless you're ready to spend vast dollars on a foolproof shifter system, shifting cleanly is going to be your job and your job alone. It's one measure of your bike riding skill... and the better you get at that skill, the better you feel about it.

...and your bike will like you for it.

Can handlebars on diamondback insight 2 be raised?

typically not, they use an Aheadset style headset. If you need them higher then your dealer or local bike shop can help you pick out a stem that has more "rise" to it so you can sit more upright.

It may be fixable.Try to clean it and then tighten the cable that is on the rear of the shifter assembly. Then make sure the controller is tight and clean. If it still wont work check to make sure the mounting bracket is not bent. The mounting bracket may also have an adjuster on it.

Many possibilities, including derailleur outer limit not correctly adjusted, derailleur not mounted correctly, tight bend or friction in cable. Talk to the store manager/owner about correcting your complaints or find another shop or a bike co-op. If the bike is a major brand from a bike shop (Trek, Giant, Cannondale, etc.) try going to their website, look for Customer Service/Support and enter a complaint.

How do I operate the gear shifters on a diamondback sorrento?

Here's a great article on that subject. The article covers virtually any multi-speed bike, including yours. One thing the article leaves out is that in order to shift, the chain must be moving, which means that you must be pedaling. But it works best if you are pedaling very lightly.

You may have a locked up wheel bearing or you may have an object stuck in the chain. Can you spin rear wheel by hand? If not, most like bearings, if so, then you may have bent gear tooth or something stuck in chain. Check derailer to make sure it is not bent

Grip shifter slipping

It sounds like the catch mechanism inside the shifter may be broken. I found a video that does a 'how-to' to give you an idea of the internals of these types of shifters (may not be exacly like yours). If your shifter does not click and hold each of the 3 speeds, this is likely the problem. Sometimes this can be repaired or you may have to replace the shifter. its best to call your local bike shop and see if they carry parts for your shifter. Make sure you have the make and model noted - or just bring the bike down.
