Speakers wires can come with any colors it depend on who did it or did the wiring. the correct way to wiring anything has to deal with electric describing either positive or negative they should have used black and red which is the basic and universal. I would undo the speakers bolt which bolt down the speaker and pull it out and look at the back where the speaker contact is and it should have the marking positive sign and the negative sign.

Sorry, I should have phrased the question more clearly. Basically, should the postive terminal be up near the firewall or closer to the front end / grill of my "97 Ford Escort?

positive and negative terminals are different sizes on batteries so the positive lead will only go on one terminal as it is the smallest , that's the way the battery will be placed as the pos wire will be at that side and they are'nt long enough to stretch over

What do you have to do to change the battery,do you have to take off the supprt bar that runs across the top of the battery

Yes, unscrew the bolt that hold the support bar that run accross the battery. But before you do that, unscrew the postive clamp ( the one with the red rubber cap)l, make sure you do not touch anything, or have the wrnech touch any other metal, while you are unscrewing the bolt, otherwise you will get shock. Then do the same with the negative/ground clamp. Then take the battery suport bar out, careful not to loose any screws. Then pull out your old battery, and in with the new one, and make sure you have the postive to postive and negative to negative an dbattery position correctly. Should be postive negative mark on each end of the battery terminal. Installation is vise versa.

I have everything hooked up right and system was playing fine. then the blue power button started flashing and subwoofer wont hit. the orange thermal light is also on. how can i fix it?

If your subs are dual voice coil, they will be tricky if you're not familiar with them. If you wire them in series ( a black and red together) and bridging them on the amp, you might be overloading the amp if it is not capable to handle it ( 1 ohm stable). Instead of bridging, try parallel series on the amp. A positive and negative will be wired together. The other postive will go to the positive of channel 1 and negative to the negative of chanel 2.

Or wire the speaker in parallel ( black with black- red with red) and you can then either bridge them on the amp or on their own channel

Is the black wire negitive and white wire postive

Hi,
The Black wire is the Hot or positive wire and the White wire is the nuetral or negative wire.
The green wire gets hooked to the frame or any metal part of the dishwasher...usually there is a green screw inside the little box where the wires hook up

I have a Hifonics BXI1208d mono subwoofer amp but i have 2 sets of wire terminals and they go negative negative postive postive. Which do I use?

Depends if its bridgeagle or bridge internally. bridgeing provides the most power to a mono system. 2 positives and 2 negative you have a 2 channel amp. Heres a link to check out, you should be able to figure out your system and hook it up with this. Hope it helps. http://www.wikihow.com/Bridge-an-Amplifier

Clear monter cable, needs to know witch is postive and negative.

Hi gaitan1

There are a few ways that cable can have positive and negative identified. In the case of monster cable, the first thing to look for is

  1. a single silver strand of wire in one bunch of many copper strands. OR
  2. writing along one side of the cable
  3. a fine ridge along one side
  4. a small white stripe every so often on one side
It is not important which one you make positive, but VERY important to get the speakers in phase. If none of these suggestions help you, I am happy to still assist you. :)

I need a wiring diagram for my DEH-6000 ub stereo

red - ignition, 12 volts with key turned on

yellow - back-up, 12 volts all the time, even with key off

black - ground

orange - illumination

blue - power antenna or remote turn on for external amplifier

grey - Solid grey is postive front right speaker, grey w/black stripe negative front right speaker

white - solid white is positive front left speaker, white w/ black stripe is negative front left speaker

purple - solid purple is postive rear right speaker, purple w/black stripe is negative rear right speaker

green - solid green is positive rear left speaker, green w/black stripe is negative rear left speaker

You may also have a wire for "mute" which mutes the speakers when you have a phone call or other accessory connected to it. I can not remember off the top of my head what color it is, but most times it is brown. If you have an extra wire I have not listed, that will most likely be the one. Most people never use this wire.

I hope this helps, and if so a FixYa! rating would be appropriate and very much appreciated, after all, it is the only reward we get for helping people like yourself for free.

I would be happy to offer more help if you need it, just reply to the post and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

Good luck with the installation of your radio,

Dave
