Try denatured alcohol, or goof off the orange gel. Turpentine might work as well. Be careful using anything like Lacquer Thinner or the original goof off, you might melt the actual coating on the fridge.

What is the best solution to used when washing your car if you don't have car washing stuff?

You do not want to use dish soap as
that is too hard on the paint
Best to buy car washing soap or just use
the hose & plain water & an old dish towel

I saw your response to another Kenmore frig and I have a similar problem I want to ask you about. I have a Side-by-side Kenmore frig(model 106.9555722) that we've had for 16 years!! Other than r

I have seen this one other time in all my years of appliance repair and changing out the "water inlet valve" corrected the problem. I don't have an answer to why it did, but it did. Here is the valve for your unit.
After you change the valve be sure to purge the water line for a good 5 - 10 mins to get all the nasty water out. Keep me posted!

How do I get the white heat stain off of my tempered glass, air tight gas furnace?

You'll need to remove the glass from the fireplace, but not before turning off the pilot light. Then mix a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar & Water. Using a sponge soaked in the solution and partially wrung out, clean the glass on both sides using the solution & sponge. Reapply as necessary until the glass is clean. Dry thoroughly with paper towels, before reinstalling the glass.

The heat stain is not really a heat stain. It's left over residue, from when someone used commercial glass cleaner to clean the glass. The white stain is from the ammonia in the cleaner.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Water will not shut off to begin cycle

Does the washer leak water into the tub even when it is not on. If so, your fill valve is leaking or sticking.

I would also check the following components for problems:
-Air pressure switch. This is usually located inside the control area and likely is attached to the water level control. Try attaching a small piece of tubing to the pressure switch and gently blow into it. If it turns off, the problem likely lies elsewhere.

-Air tube. This clear tube can get crimped or worn from the vibration of the washer's normal operation. Any holes, cracks or crimps will prevent the air pressure created by the water in the tub from getting to the pressure switch.

-Soap residue in the air dome. The airdome is the piece attached to the side of the washtub that allows water in the tub to exert air pressure into the tube and the pressure switch. Soap residue can create an obstruction that prevents the pressure from being transmitted up the tube. Try cleaning with vinegar or ammonia. (Remember: Clean the tub and tubing thoroughly with water after cleaning. Ammonia and Vinegar are both corrosive to electrical parts.)

Hope this helps!

Ge washer overflows on all cycles.

You can use ammonia or vinegar to dissolve soap scum. Granted, I don't like the idea of using ammonia since ammonia+bleach (residues of which may be in the washer tub)= toxic gases. You may consider this if you can work on the part outside of the washer (and outside the house) or you can possibly ventilate the area well. Personally I'd just try the vinegar first. Can you disconnect the tube from the water level pressure sensor in the control panel? If so, find a syringe, turkey baster, or whatever else you can find to fill with vinegar and slowly pressurize the tube from the top side. You will likely meet significant resistance at first, and then it should release as it breaks through the scum. I would not recommend using an air compressor or other non-manual airpump, as the plastic tubing and airdome are not rated for high pressure. Once it is clear, flush with lots of water and then air to make sure the acidic vapors do not make their way up to the pressure switch.

Also, don't forget to check the tubing for small cuts, breaks or holes..particularly where the tubing travels through a hole in the metal casing. Any hole, no matter how small, will cause the pressure to never get to the pressure switch, and your washer will never know when it is "full".

Hope this helps!

Detergent stains on the finish of the washer and dryer

Try one or all of the cleaners listed below to remove the stain. Hope this helps you.
  • Oxygen bleach
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Acetone
  • Paint thinner
Steps to Remove the Stain:
  1. Laundry soap dyes are usually more difficult to remove than other colors.² However, oxygen bleach, such as Oxi-Clean, can sometimes clean away even the red stains. Sprinkle the powder on a damp sponge and scrub away the stain.
  2. Soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and wipe away the detergent stain. If the stain is not immediately lifted, allow the alcohol to soak for several minutes.
  3. Vinegar is effective on many kinds of stains. Make a solution of one part vinegar in two parts water and sponge the vinegar onto the stain.
  4. Baking soda can be effective for removing detergents from appliance surfaces. Sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and clean the stain until removed.
  5. Combine equal parts of 3% hydrogen peroxide with water and sponge the stain with the solution.
  6. Soak a cloth with acetone nail polish remover and use it to wipe off the stain. If the stain does not wipe off right away, it may help to lay the cloth over the stain to soak for a few minutes.
  7. As a last resort, wipe paint thinner on the stain. Paint thinner can remove most dye stains. However, you may want to test this on a small, hidden area first to be sure the paint thinner won't damage the lacquer on the appliance or cause any other adverse effects.
  8. Once you have removed the stain, wash the area with soapy water to remove any residue from the cleaning solution.
