I put the light green and the black wire together and ground it to the emergency brake.( now parking break, is that the same as the E break? It's grounded to the red/green wire) what do I do? Sound comes on and black screen with arrows on the right side and "keys" on the left side of the screen. Help please.

Dvd player to work while in motion

This can be done with a toggle switch or a relay.
**Toggle** Connect one side of a toggle switch to a ground and the other to the light green wire on the unit (parking brake input). Once the vehicle is started, just flip the toggle and apply ground. Taa-daaah.

**Relay** (see image)** This will bypass the parking brake automatically every time.

Maybe you had the same problem as I did... the unit may have been dropped or mishandled during shipping or maybe during installation. If it is still under warranty, return it. If not, try this:

I took mine to a technician that went through the settings, found nothing wrong, except for the fact that it won't play video. What he did afterward was open the unit up and checked out inside. Apparently there was just some little plug that got loose and/or fell off inside. This probably happened during shipping or could have happened if someone dropped the unit I guess. Anyway he re-plugged the little plug inside and it worked fine. I'm still to pick it up and test it myself but this is what I was told today so just thought I'd share it with you guys. Maybe that's what you need to get done.

Please note that if your unit is under warranty (like mine WAS), this would pretty much void it.

Bypass without switch

Get a relay (4 or 5 pin) from Autozone, O-Reilly, PEP Boys, etc....
Connect wires as follows on relay:
Pin #86 - Amp remote from your radio (blue wire)
Pin #30 and #85 - to a chassis ground (metal dash bracket)
Pin #87 - to Parking brake input wire on your radio (light green)
Pin # 87a - IGNORE. It isn't used in this case.

What this will do is.....
Radio will power on when you turn your key. The amp wire is delayed slightly and will trigger the relay in a second or two. This tricks the radio into thinking your e-brake has been engaged and violla....Mine has worked everyday since I connected it.

No videp playback on Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD only getting sound !!!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents for those who might be having the issue of no video but hear audio. I was having the same problem. I had completed the bypass hack with a single throw/single pole (SPST) toggle switch. I could bypass the warning message and hit the OK button but no video. I did hear audio. I searched everywhere but solution 4 worked for me. The thing for me was that next to the black wire on the harness wasn't empty. It had a purple/white wire with some sort of filter (labeled backup camera hook to reverse gear). I tied into this wire before the filter with another wire (I chose a black wire b/c I was grounding it) and grounded it with the black wire (ground) on the harness. I now have video! Maybe the 4 pole relay hack would have worked better but I had only done the toggle switch hack. I hope this helps others and most importantly thank you Salhi.

Im trying to bypass parking brake switch for pioneer AVH-P4000DVD. I already connected it to ground and then to power, but none of it works. I know that if i Install a toggle switch with 12volt current and...

This what you do. Connect the video wire to a power suppy and install a switch in the power wire. When you put the DVD in and the warning comes up, turn the switch on then off. This will allow you to watch the DVD without the park brake being applied.

You probably need to get the handbrake switch wire properly attached to the handbrake switch. Some people have also used a toggle switch or something and run the handbrake switch wire to that and the wire from the handbrake switch to a ground on the vehicle, then you just have to flick the switch off and on EVERYTIME you start the car to do the bypass.

Though what I'd really suggest just getting a 4 pin relay and do a bypass. You can also use a 5 pin relay and do it, just don't use the 87a pin. Another clean way to do it would be getting a PTR 7 but this costs a bit more and needs to be programmed. This should allow you to look at DVD's with vehicle moving or not.
