Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

2 Answers

My Acer Aspire One Netbook has a blue screen error and will not go to safe mode. It will always go back to that same choice screen after trying to choose safe mode. I think the error message is about rebooting.

If you don't have documents, pictures, etc on the hard drive that you need to backup, try running system recovery by doing the following (not sure if this works on the version with a solid state drive): WARNING: This will format your hard drive and return your netbook to the condition it was in from the manufacturer.
1. Turn on the computer
2. Press and hold Alt + F10
3. Click on Restore System to Factory Default
4. Ensure the netbook is plugged into AC power instead of running off the battery and click OK

Exact same thing happened to me with mine. Next time it's booting see if the hard drive is making a rhythmic clicking sound. If it is, its probably a bad hard drive. Acer replaced mine for free (I had to pay one way shipping). Then it worked great.

The reason I'm on here is because now it is starting to act up again, really slow boot up, choppy sound and video, which is what lead to the blue screen error...I'm worried the hard drive is bad again...

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. Follow these steps to fix a Blue Screen in Safe Mode

Once booting start, select "Safe Mode" from the boot menu.

Scan your hard drive by running your antivirus software . If the program locates an infection, move it to your vault or follow the on-screen instructions. After program completion, if a virus was removed, attempt to reboot your computer and see if this clears up the problem. If not, restart your computer in safe mode.

Restore your computer to a previous point. Click on the "Start" button. Select "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and finally "System Restore". Choose a restore point on or before the last day your computer worked without error. Finally Reboot your computer to see if it loads correctly.

This error code means that Windows cannot access the boot device. This is caused by an error in the formatting, or operating system files on your boot drive.
you may need to re install windows in the current partition, or re-format your HDD then do a complete re installation of your OS. If you need help with that, feel free to ask me. :)

My Acer Aspire 1 gets stuck when the Windows XP logo apears and just keeps booting, what can I do?

Hard Drive error on the Disk most likely... Try to go to Windows "Safe Mode"... pressing F5 before you see the XP Logo and after you see the system information screens. Once in safe mode... run ScanDisk.
Open My Computer | Right Click C Drive | Left Click Properties | Tools Tab Run Check Disk for Errors... also check mark both boxes.
Reboot

Acer Aspire One - blue screen only when try to boot

You may have to remove and reset the HDD and Memory on the unit.
Next, you will recv. the F-2 to continue or F-12 to enter setup.
Enter setup and change date and time.
Save and try.
You may have a damaged HD or boot partition and reloading the operating system will be necessary.

Reseating the HD will assure that you have a good connection and the same with the memory.

Also, if the unit has been dropped, you may have a damaged HD and may need to change it.
