Singer 4166 Foot Pedal Doesnt Work

I borrowwed a singer 4166 from a friend and it works great but the foot pedal won't work (and I'm not used to sewing by pressing a button). I plug in the foot pedal and nothing happens, is there a switch someplace I've missed? I've never had such problems trying to sew and its quite frustrating - I've got a lot of work to do and my machine is broken and I can't find a user manuel or solution anywhere - help would be greatly appreciated.

More than likely you need a pneumatic transducer. It's the part that your air tube connects to and that is what actually makes your machine run.

SOURCE: My Viking 5710 starts to sew without any pressure on foot pedal

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

You have to unscrew the presser foot, then attach the WF, using the same screw.

Make sure the lever on the WF rests on top of the needle bar clamp.

Some WF have a two prong lever and this fits around the needle clamp like a lobster claw.

Do you have a foot pedal for Singer 2210?

Your foot pedal works on several models of high-end machines, including a Bernina. Unfortunately, while you can easily purchase a replacement at several sites, it's pricey. However, I took a look on eBay, and there's one for sale there for $50, which is much better than $149, which is the list price. Here's the link

Hi the light works on the singer samba 2 but the pedal doesnt, any ideas, I havent thread any cotton through it would that make a difference, thanks

The light will work even if the pedal isn't functioning. The foot pedal in your machine sounds like it needs to be repaired or replaced . To make sure that your machine isn't the problem you can plug a friends pedal in just for a trial run.

Foot pedal not working

Well, you are definitely getting power from the electric plug in.

Let's do some diagnostic work. Do you hear anything when you press the foot pedal? Any hum? Did you happen to leave it in bobbin winding mode?

your machine doesn't have a "sew" button for use without the pedal. So please rotate the hand wheel toward you as you press the pedal. Did the motor take over and sew?

If you know someone with a meter... have them test the pedal. (they will place probes on/in the part that plugs in which tests for shorts, etc.) If that tests ok... then we know it's something more than the pedal and it will need servicing by a Singer Tech.
