Sounds like you have a hpp printer......continue to use the ink until it wont print...odds are you purchased a defective cartridge....on a side note buy a kodak printer.....the ink is under $20 to replace...and kodak will back their printers more so than most other companies....

Maybe the ink inside the catridge already low or empty, sometimes each color ink will empty at different time, depend on usage. Fill only the yellow ink and try to print again.

Hey guys! My ESP7 is using an enormous amount of colored ink! I'm on my third cartridge and I haven't printed 20 5x7 pics. Or the 'low colored ink alert' is not properly functioning. Is there any way I...

Page yields are estimates and how many pages (or photos) you get out of a cartridge depends on the percent coverage for each color. In general page yields are based on 5% coverage, which translates to double spaced text. Printing photos uses a LOT of ink and it seems like there isn't much ink in these cartridges to start with. I would not expect that the ink alert is malfunctioning. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I would be happy to give you a recommendation on a printer that would better suit your needs.

Hello there:
This problem is usually due to a print head that needs to be replaced
I have provided the information that you will need ok
best regards mike
This document provides information on how to replace a printhead or ink cartridge.A printhead may need replacing when print quality issues cannot be resolved by cleaning the printheads or a front-panel display message indicates a printhead needs to be replaced.An ink cartridge needs replacing when a front-panel display message indicates either:
  • Low ink levels
  • Ink cartridge approaching expiration date
CAUTION: Never remove an ink cartridge and a printhead at the same time. Can't print without black Ink

From HP's website:
The printer will not operate unless all six ink cartridges are installed. Also, HP cannot guarantee the quality of refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges.

Try this::
Leave the empty cartidge in and go to print, select the printer, click on preferences, then the paper/Quality tab. there select color and best. This way you wil be able to print your document.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
