Question about Onkyo TX-DS747

2 Answers

My Onkyo TX DS747 displays error SIO, and often experiences audio drop outs. In addition, the lighted panel display often goes out regardless of the dimmer position choice.

I have been able to get the panel display to stay on - don't know how exactly. And the "error SIO" condition is less frequent, but the audio dropouts are still problematic. Also, sometimes the subwoofer output signal seems to be absent, as its amp stays in "hibernate" condition when it should be amplifying. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Sounds like you have an intermittent problem?

Could be as simple as cold solder connections, as this is very common on older receivers and electronics.
If your not a tech, this is not a repair for you to play with as it can cause more damage to the unit.
If you don't care to open and if you know how to solder , tap around with an insulated tool or a wooden tool and see if you can get the problem to happen ,

If you see the problem connection, just touch with the solder rods on the connection, REMEMBER you must know how to solder as well as de solder. If you don't know how to solder , take the unit into a shop to be repaired.

Please leave me comment, if you need futhur assistance

Sorry to heard that your are having issues with your TX DS747.

This problem is the most difficult one to repair, as the failure cannot be duplicated and the parts are expensive, most owners of this equipment decides to replace it. This problem may be caused by a Integrated circuit, perhaps the origin was overheating issues, cold solder or even defect in manufacture (No one can find exactly why). Also, there is no guarantee that fixing this unit will work fine again.

According to the data that you provided, I believe the main board have one or more parts overheating causing the erratic behavior.

To have it fixed, the manufacturer request to send the part back to them and the cost may be the same as getting a new one from e-bay. If you want to fix it by yourself, you will get a headache to determine exactly what is the source of the problem and find that IC's are expensive ($45.USD at least) and difficult to find.

Anyway, check the user manual, determine if the equipment still under warranty. I recommend you to contact the manufacturer for assistance. Perhaps they appreciate you as customer and may give you a rebate or something to keep a customer happy.

Good luck!

My TX-SR702 receiver often displays a 'Dialog

Need to know your source and exactly how that source is connected to the receiver. Also need to know what surround sound mode you are using and whether the program material that drops out is compatible with that decoding format. Might be as simple as changing surround modes when this happens, but you should know that many cable boxes and some disc players routinely drop their digital audio signals from time to time and can give you these symptoms. Best remedy is to call Onkyo tech support with all of your information requested above documented in one place. They can help you troubleshoot while you are in front of your receiver.

Tx-ds747 no display light, when powering on only stand by mode and the volume knob has light ,how to fix it.

Sounds like the "Pure Audio" mode is turned on. This mode is designed to use the amps power to dedicate to audio processing and sound quality. It turns off all front panel lights and video processing. Check you remote or thr front panel of the Onkyo for a "Pure Audio" button.

My unit switches between speakers A, B and neither, while warming up. Lasting anywhere from 5min-15mins until it settles. Then speakers A can be selected and it will stay there. How do I fix this?

I see that I am not only one with same issue with TX-DS747, and would be grateful if someone could post some more info about this problem.
