The door that keeps the batteries and memory card will not stay closed. Can it be fixed?

Mine is broken also. There are 2 tabs in the cover and 2 raised slots on the camera body. When you open the battery compartment, you are supposed to slide the lid forward releasing the tabs from the slots, before the cover pops open. If you don't do this, you ~will~ break the tabs (or the raised slots). Well someone who didn't know this got a hold of my camera tried to force the compartment door open, breaking the raised slots that are part of the camera body.
Take a close look at yours and figure out how this latch is supposed to work and then see which part is broken. If it's the tabs on the door you can buy a replacement door online (do a search) and have someone good with electronics install it. (requires soldering). If (like me) it's the slots on the camera body that are broken, then it's not repairable. The original parts are too small and flimsy to be repaired (designed to fail). My best idea is to find some other way to latch the door closed. I've tried a velcro strap but it doesn't hold the lid tight enough and I've looked in hardware and craft stores for some kind of latch that might work, if I could atach it to the outside of the door somehow, but haven't found anything suitable (it would have to be small but sturdy and attach to the thin plastic of the door)
I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler because they work with very small parts and might have something that could be screwed into the plastic door and camera body.
If you know of a better fix, please let me know.

I have Fujifilm Finepix S1000. The battery door does not close. Is there a place on-line I can purchase a battery door? Thank you.

I know this is an old question, but when I had this problem I came across several forums that had the "tape it" or "drill a hole and screw it shut" solutions. Some even gave step by step instructions on taking the camera apart and replacing the battery compartment with one from a camera bought for parts. I even contacted Fujifilm for an estimate. All were either expensive, ineffective or damaging. The solution I came up with was to go to the Camera Exchange and buy a Quick Release plate used for tripods. One that was long enough to cover the battery door. It screws into the tripod mount on the back and holds the door closed. No damage, no hole drilling and it works. Also only cost me $8. Win!

I have a Fuji FinePix S5000 and the battery door catches (on the body of the camera) have broken off. Replace complete body assy??? I am sure mine is not the only one. any help appreciated.

I had this problem also (see below).

After getting poor results with the duct tape solution, I discovered another work-around. This should work whether it is chipped lugs on the door or on the body.

Firstly I used an old camera flash bracket that screws into the tripod socket, and this holds the battery door in place quite securely. However it was too long, so I cut and filed a piece of aluminium 25mm (1") wide by 2.5mm thick to the right length (around 100mm/4") and shape, and made a hole for the bracket screw.

End result is not exactly like new, but more functional than the duct tape and does not further damage the actual camera:

See if you can unscrew the battery door and find out exactly what the problem is.
Use the proper tools - screwdriver etc., etc. Check for any blockages - debris etc., etc. If the door is not broken you may just have to put it back on and tighten the screws that hold it closed.

Sony Cyber-Shot Battery Compartment Door Broken

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :

3346z won't power up

Try reseting the configurations. It has a small hole in the front of the cammera you can put a pencil on it when you start it up. I had some trouble to start it once, but it shows something on the LCD and the green light blinks. If thats your problem the pencil in the hole will fix it.
