The dryer is not heating up or drying clothes. I read another person said it might be a burnt out heat element. How would we check for this.

With no heat comes no dry clothing. The heating element is not coming on, it could be the thermo cutoff(fuse) is burned out, that is alot less $ than the heater. You will need to check with a ohm meter, pull up veiw of part location by use of model# on any parts web page.

Heating element in dryer inop. has 220V at element

Disconnect the element, test the resistance of the element. If its infinite (OL, or omega) its shot. Test it to ground while you are at it (usually done with an immersion element, but what the heck). If you read resistance from end to end, you really do need to look and see if there is actually voltage being sent to the element when there is a call for heat.

Dryer tumbles but no heat. Replaced Thermal

Howdy: Those are good shotguns. It could be the firing ignitor. Two solenoids control the signal to the element. If thay stick it keeps the element on too long or too shot. Take it down to test at Sears. Good luck - Doug

Heating is not hot

Either the wires to the heating element have burned out, the heating element is shot, or the temperature sensor is shot. Unplug the dryer and check the heating element for continuity, check for burned wires between the relay and the coils, and check for continuity across the cold temperature sensor. Replace any defective parts.

Heat temp and time

When a machine takes a longer time to heat up, this is often due to scale on top of the heating element, try using a descaler product, and running a descale cycle a couple of time.

If it is not a scale problem, then it is usually a faulty thermostat or a faulty element.

Probably the heater element. You need to pull the back of teh machine off and check the heating element for continuity. If its open then its shot.
These are parts that normally go bad.
Check on ebay these can be had for less than 50.00
