Question about Mitsubishi VS-70707 70" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I purchased from a couple the Mitsubishi Projection TV 70" Model: VS- 70707 Serial (if this helps): 108071 and I got it into the house (handled with extreme care) and plugged it in and tried to turn it on. Everytime I try to turn on the TV I press the power button and the TV does the sound that it's going to start up for about a second and then turns right back off. I tried the holding "MENU" and "INPUT" technique and it worked. I got the blinking timer code which was "20". After holding down both buttons for 5 seconds the timer green light blinked 2 times then paused and blinked another 2 times. I was trying to see what the problem is and if it can be fixed easily (which I doubt) or if I need a professional to come out. If I do need one coming out should I call Mitubishi Support Center? I bought the TV from some people and I don't have warranty (I don't mind spending money getting the TV fixed, it's a 72" inch which is nice and big!) I don't know what year it is. Here are links to 2 pictures of the TV so you know exactly what your dealing with. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h118/Roskeet69/DSC06120.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h118/Roskeet69/DSC06121.jpg Please help me out as I want to get this TV working. Thanks a lot, Roscoe Hanner.

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

Main setup menu froze on screen unable to remove,also TV just stays on have to unplug from outlet. Press Rest button, and home button on remote nothing happens. Do have background channel TV from cox cable...

If the model number posted here is correct (vs-70707) this is a VZ8 Chassis made around 2000 and should NOT have a reset button on the front.

Please confirm actual model number.

Note: almost all Mitsubishi sets have a hidden menu (two or more) and one allows with the Mitsubishi remote to enter for example the OPTION menu and there you will be able to do a HARD RESET on the set which sets ALL settings back to default.

Im trying to find a replacement screen for a Mitsubitshi VS-70707... is there anywhere I can find one or some sort of similar product that will work?

Find an active TV Repair shop. You may find a used screen in their salvage area. If they don't have one, they will know of another TV shop that may. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

22 error is the code for short protect which could be the two STK392-110 Convergence ICs as thats the number one component to short out . It could also be leaking coolant check the boards for any sign of a sticky residulr that would indicate that the CRTs are leaaking coolant on the boards.

Good day, crsomers1;
The 'giggling' may be a horizontal problem, also known as pie crusting. Try this first: unplug TV from wall, reset or reboot. Secondly: CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 (9-VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
I hope this was helpful, good luck, big IRISH.
