Hi! I'm quite puzzled by a printer/mac problem I have. About six months ago the printer (an Canon Pixma IP4200) suddenly stopped printing. I have a powermac G4 tower (running on OSX 10.4.10 at the time). I thought it was the printer, so I took it in and was told it was ok--that it printed fine for them. Indeed when I got home I hooked it up to an older G3 (running 10.3.9) and it worked perfectly. The only thing I could think of was that an OS update possibly did something. I have since updated again (to 10.4.11), hoping that would undo something, but no luck.I have literally spent hours on the phone with both Canon and Apple and neither could solve the problem. I have checked cables, ports, downloaded and installed new driver, logged in as a root user, etc. and nothing gets more than a test print from the printer. (It shows up in the USB chain in system profiler.) Any suggestions would be most appreciated, as I'd rather solve the problem than go out and buy another printer which could suddenly do the same thing! Thanks in advance!
go to system preferences select print and fax locate the printer in the list to the left and select the minus symbol underneath then restart the system.
after rebooting go back to system preferences select print and fax connect the printer and click the add symbol under the list select the ip tab which looks like a globe if the printer doesn't pop up in the ip list you must use the default ip address which should be 192.168.1.1 but if that is not it you will have to contact support again to find out the correct address once you find it in the add print fax you just select add then select it in the default printer drop down menu at the bottom of the screen and you should be ready to print

Canon PIXMA MP 780 paper jam error message at ejection slot remains after paper jam removed. INITIAL PROBLEM paper jam problem began when a dangling telephone wire got caught in paper intake. it was removed very gently. no error message. Tried to print, got error message at ejection slot turned machine off and on. after being turned on, a sheet of paper will pass through the machine but paper jam message continues. WHAT I HAVE TRIED, FOLLOWING EARLIER FIXYA SUGGESTIONS since then. I have. 1. turned printer upside down 2. gently cleaned out paper dust on either side of the paper rollers 3. checked that paper roller is still rough 4. tried to change to feed from lower cassette. will not accept feed switch command 5. removed and reinstalled print head (which was replaced last month) PROBLEM REMAINS. turned machine off and on. after being turned on, a sheet of paper will pass through the machine but paper jam message continues. QUESTION: WHAT TO DO? Background: we have in past two months cleaned the WASTE TANK following the instructions here and reprogrammed it and, after the print head refused to print from the smaller of the black cartridges, replaced the print head. We get a flashing light when printer is turned on and a small grind, but then the light disappears.
