Question about Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera
Make sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position. Then, format the card in the camera to optimize it.

Does it work with other cards? There's a small switch on the memory card reader inside the camera which tells the camera that the card is locked. Most likely this switch is broken. You can try to point it with needle or something but I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair to a local repair shop or Canon service center.
