I can't get good picture with vertex 807 at night

i buy the rubber covers for mine so they stay dry. (good uses of china parts, a cover) only use IMO.

The VX 160's may have bad oscillators. It is not user repairable. The simple thing to check are the antennas. Vertex radios are very susceptible to broken antennas and will not transmit. This is true of Uhf and Vhf. Replace one and try it on all the radios. Never transmit without a antenna. It can cause the PA in the radios to fail.

vertex (h,k)
a is the focal length (distance between the vertex and the focus)
a = 2
(2 units above the vertex)

(x-h)^2 = 4a (y-k)
(x-2)^2 = 4(2) (y-0)
x^2 - 4x + 4 = 8 (y)
x^2 - 4x + 4 = 8y
x^2 - 4x - 8y + 4 = 0

**Answer: "(x-2)^2 = 8 (y)" or in expanded form "x^2 - 4x - 8y +4"

Maybe with the drop the radio speake is out of place, did try to open the radio and find if the speaker is in its correct place? The speaker uses a spring connector and this can be out of place. Good luck
