Whenever possible contact an authorized RTI dealer in your area for support help!

There are a couple of reasons that a T1 or T2+ goes black. I understand that the screen does not light but if the buttons do not light either. The first most obvious reason is the battery is dead, even though it may act like it is charging. Pop the back off and check to see if the battery is slightly bulged. If so, it is for sure finished with its life. Further if the battery is over 2 - 3 years old it is probably done. Replacement batteries are available, but changing them requires more knowledge than just knowing how to use a Philips screw driver. The mother board battery connector is very susceptible to damage, so you must take great caution to hold the white mother board connector down gently on the edge with a small screw driver while you pull the white battery connector out.

Another potential problem area that will cause the screen to go off or become fractal is that there is an internal screw in the lower left that clamps the keyboard circuit board in place. This is also the ground clamp for the keypad illuminating surface. If this screw was not installed tightly the contact surface underneath will burn off. I have successfully repaired several of these by placing a triple folded small piece of aluminum foil in place of the burned out contact material under the screw and clear plastic illuminating sheet then tighten up the screw.

Only perform repairs if you are qualified to do so J

Remote in not charging; just blinking

If the remote is over 4 years old it's most likely the battery. Just need a replacement.

My 1 year old RTI T2+ suddenly will not charge. I've tried charging it on 2 separate charging stations with no luck!

Try replacing the battery. If this does not fix the problem the charging circuit may be bad and need service. Go through your dealer if you purchased it that way and they may be able to provide you with a loaner while it's sent off to service. Or call RTI yourself and setup a service request. (952) 253-3136

I have a T2+ remote sys and need a manual. as a start I need to know how to charge.

The remote comes with a charging dock, if you did not get this you can order one from RTI (952) 253-3136.

BATTERY AND DOCKING STATION
The T2+ uses a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. This battery does not exhibit any type of "Memory Effect" from being charged too often. Since the T2+ can safely be charged after each use, a docking station is included for convenience. If left out of the docking station, the T2+ will remain in sleep mode for 1 or 2 months before shutting down. At that point the battery must be recharged. The T2+ Docking Station can be placed on a flat surface such as a shelf or table, or it can be mounted to a wall using the mounting holes on the back of the unit. If the T2+ battery capacity is reduced to approximately one hour of remaining run-time, a low battery icon will appear in the upper left corner of the display The docking station LED illuminates to indicate a charge in progress. The LED will turn off when the battery in the unit is fully charged.A fully discharged battery will take approximately 2-4 hours to completely re-charge.The T2+ can remain in the docking station indefinitely without damage to the battery.

The remote will not hold a charge, we have only had it for @ 6 months. The blue light on the charger stays on, but the remote does not light up when you push the buttons

You may have a bad battery, try testing a new battery and try again. If this does not fix the problem the remote and possibly the dock may need to go to service. Call your dealer about getting a loaner while it's off to service or if you purchased this some other way call RTI and set up a service call with them. (952) 253-3136

What does it mean when the light at the top of the remote is red instead of green?

The red indicates low battery. The batteries are estimated to last around 2 years at that point or later the battery will weaken and the red light will show up more often. In some rare cases the red light will not go away even with a fully charged new battery, in that case there may be something wrong with the charging circuit inside the remote that gives feedback on the battery's charge. You can either live with a false reading of the battery level and charge the remote nightly OR you can send it to RTI for a repair.

Rti remote doesn't work properly

The best advice I can give you is to contact Total Control Remotes (www.totalcontrolremotes.com) or info@totalcontrolremotes.com. They are an authorized RTI dealer and specialize in programming RTI remotes and all related equipment. Not only is the customer service excellent, but the pricing is great. They will get you back on your feet in no time. You should not let a control system of this type go wasted.
