I have had this unit for 2 years now and it has been working flawlessly until the battery went dead. I replaced the battery using a suggestion found on this site with a 3.7 volt Lion 2600mah unit and that problem is solved. Now I get bad satellite reception. I have double checked the installation of the gps module with the can facing down and the gps antenna facing up. I did both the under the bezel reset and the master reset holding down the right corner while turning on the unit and completed both successfully. The unit does get a signal intermittently and I lose signal quite often and it asks me if I am indoors, etc. Do the gps modules go bad? This went from a fast starting up and locking in unit to a piece of crap that seldom receives the satellites. Any suggestions????

I have found a solution for my failure to acquire satellites! Apparently, the extremely tiny coax that connects to the gps module from the face unit has an extremely fragile shielding. The shielding is used as a ground and along with the center conductor gives you a signal source and a ground, coax. On my unit the ground shielding had seperated which required unsoldering the center conductor and ground and redressing the connection and then resoldering the center conductor and shielding to the gps module. Once repaired my gps gets 4 bars and is up and ready for navigation in under 2 minutes! I had to use a magnifying glass to see that the shielding had seperated since this coax is like 24 guage or something extremely tiny. I would imagine that without too much jostling around over time these tiny ground shielding wires could vibrate to an open connection for the ground. When I redressed and resoldered the connection I also took some electrical tape and taped the wire down similar to the way the remainder of the wire is taped on the face unit to prevent the same problem (I would imagine).

You have to be outside with a clear view of the sky for it to acquire satellites. No trees, no buildings, no hills, etc...

Garmin c330 says trouble tracking satelites, not acquiring signal. what to do?

If your StreetPilot c300 or c500 series device is no longer acquiring satellites please read the article linked below to ensure that this is not being caused by something in your environment:

Why won't my unit acquire satellites?

If after reading the above article your unit is still having problems, please ensure that your unit's software is up to date. You can do this by using our WebUpdater® program.

If you have tried all of the above suggestions and your unit is still not acquiring satellites, you can perform a master reset by doing the following:

Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the default factory settings.
  1. Start with the unit powered OFF and unplugged from power.
  2. Touch and hold the bottom right corner of the touchscreen.
  3. Power the unit ON and continue pressing the screen until a new message displays, "Do You Really Want To Erase All User Data?".
  4. Touch Yes and go through the set up again.
Take the unit outside and let it set with a clear view of the sky for 3-5 minutes to acquire satellites. If the unit still does not acquire satellites after this, please contact Garmin Product Support.

Garmnin C330 slow to acquire satelites.

Make sure you are not moving. This way it can triangulate better. Wait for it to recognize at least 3 satellites. Then cruise as you wish as soon as it is synced with the satellites.
Also, be sure that you are on an open field with minimal aerial hindrances.

Your problem is normal to all GPS devices. It does take time to acquire satellite signal.

hope this helps!

My Garmin c330 has difficulty acquiring satellites in my new 2009 Camry XLE. Does it have something to do with Bluetooth? Does it interfere? Ever since we bought the 2009 Camry XLE in June, the Street...

The C330 does not have bluetooth capability. Regardless, this has nothing to do with the unit's ability to acquire satellites. Nor should the type of vehicle you purchased, unless the unit is unable to receive due to some feature, like something in the windshield, which is preventing the unit from receiving a proper signal. Does the unit work outside the vehicle?

To reset the unit, pry off the silver faceplate.
Turn the unit on using the power button on the right side.
Press the reset button that was hidden behind the face plate.
The GPS unit should restart, and display its software version.
Make a note of the software version in case you have to call customer service.
