Question about Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Notebook

1 Answer

My Dell mini asks for a logon and password for any application you try to use like Internet Explorer, etc. Since I did not set up any passwords to my knowledge, I don't know what they are so it renders the mini I had have for almost a year as a backup for my other Dell laptop totally useless since you cannot use it for any application - how do I turn this off and is this a hardware issue? I bought it almost a year ago and any warranty is soon to expire so if it is hardware I need to find out how to return it. But it seems to me it has to be some setting that is causing it and have asked other people to no avail. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

How to auto remember application passwords

Popular Web browsers have features that allow them to remember passwords so you don't have to constantly enter login information on the websites you visit. If your browser does not automatically ask if you would like to save the passwords you type, you can quickly turn the feature on and begin saving your information.

Open Internet Explorer, and click "Tools." Click "Internet Options," and then select the "Content" tab. Click "Settings" under the "AutoComplete" heading. Locate the box that says "User names and passwords on forms" and click the box to check it. If you want Internet Explorer to ask your permission before saving a password you type, check the box next to "Ask me before saving passwords." Click "OK," and then click "OK" again. b> Mozilla Firefox b> Navigate to the login page of the site you want to save a password for, and enter your password. Click "Remember" when Firefox asks you if you want the password to be remembered. Turn the Password Manager on if you are not prompted to save the passwords that you enter. This feature is turned on by default, but if it has been disabled you can enable it. Click "Tools," "Options" and "Security," and then check the box next to "Remember passwords for sites." b> Apple Safari b> Open a browser window, and select "Safari" from the menu bar. Click "Preferences," and then click 'Autofill." Check the box next to "Usernames and passwords." Your passwords should be saved from now on. Hope this helps

ok then try these

Solution #1:
go to dells website (from another computer this one can't)
go get the drivers for the LAN or nic. install them see if your internet works then. if not move on to solution #2

Solution #2:
type open command prompt and type in ipconfig

this will bring up a bunch of numbers (ip addresses) we want the "default Gateway" write this down or remember quick and type it into the address bar of your browser (Internet explorer, Firefox, etc) press enter. you should get one of 2 things either the settings for your router or something asking user name n password. if its the user name password try (if u do not know what it is) admin for both if its not then try password as the password. once in there restore your to your factory settings.

  • Plug your Blackberry up to the computer with the usb cable and open the Desktop Manager application.
  • 2 Open your internet browser on your computer (Internet Explorer, Firefox, ETC.) and go to: Select your Blackberry model from the list of models. If you don't know your model then on your Blackberry go to Options --> About. Your model will be list as "Blackberry ****". Once you've selected your model just choose your language and click on the link to the download the file: "". After downloading Opera Mini unzip the file with Winzip and install on your phone with the application loader in the Blackberry Desktop Manager. If you don't know how to install programs with the application loader check the resources at the bottom of this article.
  • 3 Once installing Opera Mini on your Blackberry you have to configure your TCP settings to connect to the internet. Included in the resources is a link to a web site that lists the APN and user names and passwords needed. Everything is sorted by service providers (Alltell, Att, etc). Locate your service provider and, on your Blackberry, go to Options --> Advanced Options --> TCP. Input the APN, user name, and password and save your changes.
  • 4 Remove the battery from your Blackberry and put it back in to reset your phone. Once your phone turned back on open Opera Mini and go through the steps of automation configuration. Be sure to select "yes" when the warning comes up "this application is try to access......".
  • 5 Open the menu by pressing the application button (the Blackberry symbol) and click on "go to" and type in a web address. If the web page loads the congratulations, you now have the internet; if not then repeat the process. If, after repeating the process, you still cant get on the internet then leave me a message and I'll be more than happy to assist you. GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN

Black screen asking for password! Why?

Battery issue is not connected with the logon issue. The logon screen usually asks for password if you have set a password for the user account or if you have added a guest or another limited account. You may disable this by disabling the password (if you only have one user account) or by using Tweak UI for XP

I Need helpseeting an adminstrator account up on a used computer

Open control panel and create a new user account with administrator privileges. Log off the previous user and logon to the one you just created. Then delete the original user and this should set everything as default for you the new user.

If the password prompt is in a browser ie, Internet explorer or Firefox you will need to remove the addon (sounds like parental controls).

The only way of changing the registered owner would be to complete a fresh install of windows.
