If you jump started the vehicle and the radio was on, you may have damaged the unit. If you can remove the radio from the dash, disconnect all power and ground. Let it set for a few minutes then plug it back in. It may or may not turn on. If it still says protect, take the unit to a local car audio shop and ask if they can bench test the unit to make sure that the problem is internal, if so, the average car audio repair is between 100-125 so weigh your options to repair or replace. Hope this helps.

Dead Creative Zen M

Usually this problem is due to the firmware. When the firmware is updated to version 1.62.02, this problem usually will be corrected. The older firmwares have problems in recognizing the battery and allowing the battery to power the unit.

You will need a wall/AC charger for the operation. Plug in the wall charger and USB cable at the same time. Your Zen should power on when connected to direct AC power via the wall charger. Once it is powered on, connect the USB cable to your computer. Then begin the firmware download.

If your Zen does not power on when connected to the wall charger, your unit is dead and its time to replace it or get the motherboard replaced via one of the Repair services offered on this website.

If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.

Make my dvd work

Did you hook up the wire harness correctly? Because you are not receiving power to the monitor. check these connections again. Maybe you have the wrong harness. Are you using the one from your car or DVD player? Did you splice the wires together? Do you have a correct color scheme to your vehicles wiring?
you may also need to bypass the monitor in order to view the screen while driving (if you're a rebel against johnny law)

Hold the power button and the menu button simultanously for about 20 seconds. Wait at least another 10 seconds, and then turn it on again.
