This might be caused by a loose connection. Try and screw loose the cd/dvd drive. Remove it and then insert it again and make sure it is fitted correctly. Tighten all the screws and check if it worked.

Hope this helps!

When I insert myDVD disc, the screen shows loading for a minute or so--then reads incorrect disc and bad on the player. This is a disc I have used before and has the label that shows it is the disc this...

It seems that optical laser block gets fail to read data on disc and possible cause could be dirty/ clogged lens or optical laser block failure.
Put lens cleaning disc in unit to clean optical lens and check DVD playback, if that does not solve the issue then optical laser block would be defective and requires replacement that would cost approx new player price.
Hope these info will help.

Cd/dvd stops reading disc half way then stops.loading tray sticks or has a delay

Disc stops playing due to tracking error from either a dirty source cd or a dirty blank. It is not the machines fault. Clean both discs thoroughly before recording. Even non visible dust can cause a stoppage. My Sony recorder does seem to be a little too sensitive to dust but it normally works fine.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. The DVD drive has stopped working, It works correctly with a lens cleaner disc. but when I try any other disc I get the following message '' windows cannot read from...

Load a CD in the drive then go to My Computer and right click on the drive letter. Now click on explore and see if it opens the folders on the CD. If it can not read the CD files then you may need to replace the drive. Check that the driver is properly loaded and windows recognized the drive properly. Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager then select the CD Drive to see the status of the driver. If it has an error you may need to replace the driver. Another thing to do is go into the Bios setup when starting the computer and see if the Drive is recognized properly. While you are in the Device Manager look at the tab for "Region" which should be set for Region 1. If it is not set for 1 it would cause this problem. Good Luck

My macbook isnt reading any discs.

There seems to be a problem with the superdrives in the MacBooks. I had mine replaced under extended warranty last month. If your Mac is under warranty, bring it in to the Apple store.
Several macbook users in the past have had success with their optical drive reading disks by turning the laptop upside down and then inserting the chosen CD. Might as well give that a try in your situation.

Drives are available online. Let me know if you need instructions on how to r/r the drive.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

This is generally a hard drive failure, but the machine should still read a disc. This sounds like a bios glitch, so try flashing the bios, then running the disc. If you flash the bios and it still won't read, then the problem will be with either the CD drive or the motherboard. Most likely the motherboard.

DVD-RW not working

Hi, in my experiance 99 times out of 100, it's the CD/DVD gone kaput! sorry... they seem to be rather delicate devices and fail for often NO apperant reason. I suggest ya take it to a reputable "PC Guy" Get a FIRM QUOTE, and replace the unit. If ya tech savy then buy a new unit and replace it, it is REAL simple to do so ya self, usually the sorta "Plug In" I bet that solves ya problem.. :)

360 freeze

It's unlikely that the system is scratching your discs. There's a possibility that if you have the system oriented vertically that you should change its orientation to horizontal. This is less likely to cause scratching. (Of course you'll have to try a new disc to verify that it's not being scratched, and with a broken console that'll be difficult.

What else is on the same electrical circuit as the Xbox360 console? Sometimes, especially in older homes, when a big appliance like a fridge, washer or furnace comes on it causes a power dip and that can create symptoms like you're describing. (It's always a good idea to have your electronics, yes even your game consoles, on an Uninterruptable Power Supply / UPS to help even out the power fluctuations.)

The sad fact is that it seems your system has died again. Unless you can find a pattern to what happens after 3-5 minutes, like a power surge, it's more than likely a hardware problem.

You should still be under warranty, especially since they replaced your system already. Get the serial number off the back of the new Xbox360 and call 1-800-4MY-XBOX if none of the above ideas solve the problem.
