Question about BenQ PB6100 Multimedia Projector

Locked in 'search' mode

My BenQ PB6100 is stuck 'searching', though it doesn't even scroll through the options, it's just stuck on Analog RGB. I've tried hooking it up to a different source (laptop, dvd player), with no luck.

I've actually had this problem before, and I sent it back to BenQ when it was under warranty. Now it's having the same issue, but not under warranty anymore, and will thus cost about 1/2 the price of the projector itself to get fixed, which seems crazy since it seems like it's just a simple problem. Any help would bed much appreciated!!!

Re: Locked in 'search' mode

Go to this link
and follow instructions to get to "factory settings menu". Navigate to the right most icon then down to "other options" and select "Hard reset" ("push and hold left or right arrow"). This fixed my uncle's unit that had the same problem

Re: Locked in 'search' mode

I don't know if its a common issue for pb6100, but i have the same problem. I am resorting to take apart the projector to see if i can 'reset' it.

I've connected my laptop to the projector. It displays the image for a second and then displays 'Analog RGB searching'

Try setting the projector to VGA instead of RGB input if you can, you should be able to toggle though input modes.

Make sure that the resolution of the laptop is equal or lower to that of the projector.

Projector says out of range

The native resolution on the 6100 is 800x600. I have had it recognize 640x480 and 1024x768 though. Check your computer to make sure the resolution is 800x600. Also set the refresh rate at 60htz, if the refresh is too high it can give out of range errors.

Projector displays reverse image also has grayish purple color

Use the remote to go into the menu and change the screen position. There are 4 to choose from, flip left, flip right, flip upside down left, flip upside down right. It may be tricky to navigae the menu backward though.

I think the problem has to do with the videochip component. Perhaps it went misconfigures and need to be flashed. Iwouldn't know how to do this, though.

In any case the problem has nothing to do with your motherboard, because this symthom points to internal problems rather than PC gear hardware.
