SOURCE: i tried turning my mp3 player on and it said

Invalid MBR = Invalid Master Boot Record.
This means that your player Flash Memory drive is corrupted and unfortunately may need to be reformatted if you cannot repair it using some Disk drive or Flash drive utility.
You can try to use 'Properties -> Tools -> Error Checking -> Check now' to fix the issue.
If you have a backup of the music on your player, I would simply use Windows Explorer and FORMAT it using FAT32.
Hope it helps.

First of all, sorry for my English
If you still have this mp3 or for anyone who sees this solution, this is what I did:
- Remove de mp3 battery. - Press and hold down de "Func" and "Play" buttons. - Connect the mp3 to computer's usb. - A message of formating the mp3 will appear. - Release de buttons and press de "Rec" button. - Formating will start and in a few seconds the mp3 will work again.
Hope it works...

MRB Error message on Gateway laptop 6510GZ. how can we resolve?

First of all I'm not this smart. I found it and pasted it here for you from:
http://www.pcpowerguide.com/windows/damaged-mbr-error-message/

They get all the credit!

MBR is the acronym for Master Boot Record. The master boot record is located in the boot section of your hard drive, which is the first sector on the first platter. When you boot your computer, the master boot record tells the computer's BIOS (Basic Input Output System) where to find the bootstrap code for the operating system.
So if the MBR is corrupted, the BIOS can't find the operating system and you can get error messages like the following ones:
  • Missing operating system
  • Error loading system
  • Invalid partition table
Looks pretty scary, doesn't it?
However, it is usually not that hard to fix a corrupted MBR and usually the rest f the hard drive is just fine and will boot normally once your fix the master boot record.
What Causes Damage to the MBR? A lot of things can cause damage to the MBR such as viruses designed to corrupt the boot sector. Some of them copy the original MBR to another file. Others do this by overwriting the MBR with virus code. In fact viruses and malware are one of the most frequent causes but, any file can become corrupted especially files that are accessed as frequently as the MBR.
How to Fix the MBR The stapes to fix the MBR are slightly different in the different versions of Windows. So I will cover them separately.
Windows XP
  1. Insert your XP installation disk in the CD-Rom and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Welcome to Setup screen, press "R" to open the repair console
  4. Enter your administrator password when prompted
  5. At the command prompt, type fixmbr and press enter
  6. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  7. Remove your installation CD
  8. Restart the computer
Windows Vista
  1. Insert your Vista installation disk in the CD-ROM and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Install Windows screen, fill in the language and location options and then click Next
  4. Click on the Repair your computer option
  5. Select the Windows Vista operating system and click Next
  6. Enter your administrator password when prompted
  7. In the System Recovery Options, select Command Prompt
  8. When a command prompt appears, type bootrec.exe and press enter to fix the MBR
  9. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  10. Remove your installation CD
  11. Click Restart in the System Recovery Options window
Windows 7
  1. Insert your Windows 7 installation disk in the CD-ROM and reboot the computer
  2. When asked, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. When you get the Install Windows screen, fill in the language, Time and Keyboard Input options and then click Next
  4. Click on the Repair your computer option
  5. In the System Recovery Options, select Command Prompt
  6. When a command prompt appears, change to the boot directory
  7. Now type bootsect /nt60 SYS and press enter to fix the MBR
  8. When a new command prompt appears, type exit
  9. Remove your installation CD
  10. Reboot the computer

Where can i send my fy500 to get the battery door fixed?

I've broken 2 battery doors now. It doesn't take much. Got the 1st one replaced under store return policy. Now it's way past the warrantee period.

I've resorted to tape and elastic bands. If you attach the elastics from opposite corner to opposite corner, it works pretty good and still doesn't block the front buttons.

Your boot record is corrupted. You'll want to boot to the Windows 2000 Recovery Console.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/229716/

Try running the chkdsk /r command first. It may take about 30+mins to finish. If that doesn't get it, then you'll want to try fixing the boot record:

command-> FIXBOOT loadTOCNode(3, 'moreinformation'); fixboot drive name: Use this command (where drive name is the drive letter where the boot sector will be written) to write the new Windows boot sector code on the boot partition. This command fixes problems where the Windows boot sector is corrupted. The Emergency Repair process also fixes the boot sector. This command overrides the default of writing to the system boot partition.

command-> FIXMBR loadTOCNode(3, 'moreinformation'); fixmbr device name Use this command (where device name is an optional device name that specifies the device that needs a new MBR) to repair the master boot record (MBR) of the system partition. This command is used in scenarios where a virus has damaged the MBR and Windows cannot start.

WARNING: This command has the potential to damage your partition tables if a virus is present or a hardware problem exists. This command may lead to inaccessible partitions. Microsoft suggests running antivirus software before using this command.

The name can be obtained from the output of the map command. If this is left blank, the boot device's MBR is fixed, for example:
fixmbr \device\harddisk2 If Fixmbr detects an invalid or non-standard partition table signature, it prompts you for permission before rewriting the MBR.
