Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook
I took my aspire one lap top out of the house for the first time yesterday and when I went to use it, it started making a high pitch noise, everything froze on screen and the BSOD appeared. I re-booted and everything worked, but it happened again. I let it sit overnight, but this morning things were good for about 2 hours when the noise came back and a clicking sound and it went down again.
Any suggestions on what could be happening and why and how to fix it??
To be able to properly address your BSOD I will need some info from the BSOD. The link below will show you the info that I need.
Note in regards to the clicking sound double check to see if the sound is coming from your speaker or you hard drive. If it is from the speakers then most likely you are having some kind of Windows. However if the sound is coming from your hard drive they you will have to get it replaced.

It Sounds like your cpu fan is failing and your cpu is overheating causing the system to experience catastrophic failure. The loud sound seems to be either the bearings in the cpu fan, or, the disc platters in the hard drive is failing and you are experiencing what is known as KNOCKING. The platters are touching each other at various points.
Either case is very bad.
Change hard drive first. The aspireone is relatively simple for a technician to install a new hard drive.

I'd suspect hard drive failure. You do have a compete back up, right?
Unless you are skilled at computer repair, this may not be worth fixing. Expect to pay $100. <> for a drive then, you will have to reload your operating system and all updates. Then comes the issue of recovering your files. If you do have a backup, you know what to do. If you need to see a professional for the recovery, expect to pay several hundred.
Good luck on your project.
