Jenn-Aire JCD2389GES Side by Side: Frig not cooling fully - freezer fine

Hi - saw your earlier responses and wanted to ask the above - I defrosted the frig for 5 hours and also ran a hair dryer throughout the inside of freezer to hopefully thaw any blocked lines. Do you have any guidance for me to get this frig to work/cool normal? it cools minimally yet fan is running fine and no other obvious issues, just started acting up 5 days ago. unit is approx 5 years old. Really appreciate any assistance...but do need clear directions.

Thank you for the time and effort.

I'm thinking that maybe an air duct is either blocked or the damper isnt opening. In the freezer compartment at the top right side there is a cover that is held in place by 1 screw. (look at item number 35 here). remove this cover and make sure ice is not blocking it up. if that is ok, then check the damper control to be sure it is opening and closing properly. The damper is located on the refrig side in the control cover (look at item# 8 here).

take off the evaporator panel - rear inside wall of freezer.
Observe...... if it is frosted over, use a fan to help melt the ice
redirect the drain hose in the back of the fridege to catch all the
    melting water into a basin.
If it freezes over again you may have to replace the Automatic Defroster Control or the heating element.

Model #970658324 leaking water from the freezer to top shelf of frig once a week probably with defrost cycle. Help!

more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. Over time it gradually builds and starts voer a larger area. Being you have a top mount refrigerator(freezer on top) there are air ways that connect the freezer to the fridege, which is how its cooled. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt
If thats not an option that you want to use the actual repair method would be to 1) unplug the machine 2) empty everything out of the freezer so you'll have room to work 3) take all the shelving and baskets out 4) locate the screws on the rear wall inside the freezer and remove them 5) take the back panel off exposing the evaporator coils ( the aluminum ) 6) directly below the coils is a trough of sorts and the drain is usually in the middle and runs out the bottom, remove the ice by carefully chipping it out or by using a hair dryer or hot water. 7) once all the ice is gone, the drain is visible and water can flow smnoothly down the drain dry the area and reassemble.

Sounds like a defrost failure.
Look on the back wall of the freezer from the inside.
If it is covered in ice your defrost system has failed.
Also check the fan motor in the freezer.
If it is not running it must be replaced.

timing is located with temperature control in frig section. Look up from beneath at the temp control you will see a hole with a slot screw driver adjustable knob inside it. rotate it till the frig shuts off. wait 30 to 40 minutes if it hasn't turn back on by itself the timing is bad. Also when you shut it off you can pull the back section out of the freezer, when you shut the timing off(by turning it with screwdriver) the defroster should turn on do not touch it the heat it puts off will burn you.

GE Frig model TFX20JRBK ww with icing on freezer

I would suggest fixing it . You only have 2 parts in the defrost system . A timer , and the defrost heater which comes with the bimetal , pt . # WR51X10031 .Most probable , is the defrost heater . You will need to remove the rear inside freezer panel , and defrost the coils with a hair dryer . After defrosting , 2 screws hold each ( 2 ) heater on , ant the defrost thermostat , just clips onto the top of the coils .

Frost throughout the freezzer compartment

unplug unit and let defrost, if possible overnight,
you can expedite the process with a hair dryer,
the problem is the return air ducts are freezing not letting the air circulate between the freezer and the fridge

Frig not saying cold enough

Check the inside of the freezer, if there is ice built up on the back wall you have a defrost problem. My guess is that your defrost heaters are bad. If there is Ice build up, you can take the inside back panel off. Take a hair dryer and defrost the coil. From there you can check the heater. Also you can re-install the panel and the fridge will operate for around three days before you start to have problems again. This will give you time to either get the part to fix or have someone to repair. Word of advice, If you have someone repair it. Make sure you defrost it before they get there, unless you want to pay them. Because they will charge you by the hour to do so and as you will see. It does take time. The harder the ice the longer it takes.

Refrigerator not cool

I don't know this particular frig, but evidently the defroster doesn't work. Frost buildup has blocked the flow of cold air.

There is a defrost timer, under the frig, accessible from the front. You can turn it with a screw driver. Turn it till you hear a click. If the timer hasn't been turning, that should turn on the defroster, a heating element nested among the freezer coils. Wait half an hour and if it is defrosting, water should be dripping into the drip pan underneath the frig. If so, then replace the defrost timer and you're good to go.

If that doesn't make it defrost, then the problem is probably the defrost thermostat, in with the freezer coils. When the frig defrosts, the defrost heater stays on until the defrost thermostat gets warm. It should be open circuit while warm. But if it is open circuit while cold, it is bad and is the cause of your defrost problem.

If you open up the freezer coils, use a hair dryer to defrost. That is safer than hot water.

Hope you can fix it.

RS21 DCNS FRIDGE COOLING FAULT

There is a fan behind the plastic. This distributes the cold air throughout the fridge. What happens is this fan stops turning due to freezing up. A temp solution is to unplug the samsung for 6-12 hours to allow the ice to melt from around the fan. This is a known design fault. It is easy to dismantle the plastic cover and defrost the frozen fan with a hair dryer, this way the fridge will only be off for about an hour
