-SE- on a Samsung / Kenmore microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open.

You can find part numbers and helpful exploded view diagrams
at the Sears Parts Site.

Once you have the part numbers, you can usually find them at a better
price here.

There are generally three ways to fix these models:

1. Have just your keypad replaced by a technician (we do it for $39.95 plus parts) or do it yourself.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved. It's here.

2. Order the control panel frame with keypad. This may cost a little more, but it's much easier.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

3. Replace the whole control box and keep your old one as a spare.

The control box is the control panel frame, keypad and circuit boards all in one. It's often very affordable, especially if you order it here.

SAMSUNG MICROWAVE SHOWS SE AND WILL NOT WORK.WHY?

SE is an error code for a shorted keypad, although the keypad might not really be shorted.

Unplug the oven for a few minutes to see if it clears the error code. If not, then leave it unplugged over night. If the problem persists, then you probably do have a shorted membrane switch on the keypad.

I have a SamSung microwave that keeps beeping SE on display

"SE" means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

On some models, the membrane keypad itself is replaced.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

On other models, the keypad is not available as a separate part, so you have to order either the control panel frame assembly (which has a new keypad on it) or a whole new controller assembly / control box.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

SE means system error, the keypad has a short in the membrane, or the control board has issues.

The SE indicates a short in the keypad membrane, but to cure this! the whole keypad control board should be changed if effort to resolve is decided, I would also suggest checking the pricing.

Quit working

SE probably means a sensor error.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Otherwise, it may have a problem with the control panelm such as moisture or contamination or a bad connection.

Let us know if the hard reset doen't fix it, and please write back with more details if you need further help.
