In the back of the tower check where the power cord plugs in.....there may (usually is) be a black switch that is a hard shut off switch... Make sure that she has that set to on or the pc wont power up. Also there is a red tini switch to adjust your pc's power input settings make sure its set to 115w if it is set to 220w then its not getting the power it needs to turn on. just use a tiny screwdriver and slide the switch back to 115w...I hope this helps... If this dont work she can reset her CMOS by changing a jumper setting on the main board.....If you are inexperianced with this kinda stuff, just pop out the watch battery inside the pc....wait 30 seconds to a minute and then put it back in, but only if her power switch and voltage switch are proper

My Guess it could be your power supply. Try swapping the power supply from a working pc, takin note on the wiring.

There may be a fuse in the power supply. It is a lot of work to get the thing open to check but probably worth it if the fuse is blown. On the other hand, it blew for a reason, and after you replace it, it will likely blow again unless you can find the reason for the first failure.

Note, there are lots of dangers connected with going inside your e-machine or any other computer for that matter. Among then - Static discharge - bumping connections loose - not remembering how to reassemble - dangerous voltages in the power supply.

Use extreme caution and take pics with your cell phone of everything you do.

I hope you find this to be of some value.

My w6409 over heats and shuts off.

This may be resolved by putting a new layer of thermal compound onto the Processor.

You'll need to remove the CPU fan and put a tiny amount (size of a grain of rice) of thermal compound on the chip. When the fan is placed back on it'll spread out.

Once this is done, you may find an improvement.

If not, i'd reccomend buying a better CPU fan.

I have a emachine T3830, that I turned off while I was away. When I came back home it will not turn on. What could be wrong?

check your outlet & make sure it's getting power
if you have your pc hooked up to a power strip make sure the power strip is still working
if it's not plugged into a power strip,, make sure all the cord in the back of the tower are securely
plugged in
let me know what what happens

My computer will not come on. I have checked the power cord and the electrical outlet and both are working

Hello.

If your power cord is plugged into a power strip, reset the power strip (turn off and on).

If there are still no lights on at all, the problem is either the power supply or the motherboard. Replacing the power supply is fairly simple. If you are not familiar with computer hardware, let a local expert handle.

Hope this helps.

No power - not responding to on button

If there are on LED lights on in the front panel then either the power cord is faulty or the switch mode power supply is faulty.
Try a different power cord to determine if it is faulty.
Can you smell a burnt electrical smell from the fan grill at the switch mode power supply?
The only way to test if the switch mode power supply is to remove it from the desktop computer and take it to your friendly computer shop to get it tested.
If you do have electronic knowledge I would advise you not to attempt to test and try to repair this power supply.
If the switch mode power supply is faulty, then replace the switch mode power supply with another unit with the same or more wattage.

The box want come on

Make sure power cord is plugged in all the way to computer. Next, plug the power cord into a different outlet. If you have it plugged into a power strip, verify the strip is ON. Was computer hit by lightning etc?

Power failure

by plugging it directly into the wall... what was it plugged into before. and have you actually taken some other electrical device and plugged it in to make sure the wall socket is still live.
there is also a reset button on most power strips... it may have tripped.

Try those and let us know.
