Question about Jenn-Air Ovens

1 Answer

I have a Jenn-Air JMV8208BAS microwave that is only a little over a year old. I just recently noticed that the "beep" noise it makes has diminished to a very feeble beep sound that can barely be heard. This is the noise you hear when you press the keypad or the warning it gives when the timer has run out and it quits running. I would swear when I had this installed there was a choice for a "high or low" beep sound, but I cannot find that setting now in the setup or in the owner's manual. Also the clock display appears really dim too and I thought there was a brigh/dim setting for that too and I can't find it. I did buy the extended warranty on this, so if something has gone out I should get it covered. Thanks for your help. Dave, Phoenix, AZ

Sounds like a power supply fault to me. Get it repaired under your warranty agreement.

SOURCE: jenn air oven display

Temporary solution, rapping on the display brings it back to normal for about a day. Certainly not a permanent fix, though.

SOURCE: Oven digital lighted display is dim

I replaced the C3 capacitor on the circuit board and works fine. This was mentioned in a prior post and took 5 minutes and was under $5.00 for the part.

SOURCE: My clock and temperature display is dim

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.

If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.

You need to replace the C3 capacitor on the control board

http://fixitnow.com/wp/2009/01/28/cheap-fix-for-a-dim-display-on-an-oven-control-panel/

You can replace only the C3 - it is 68uF / 35V and you can go to Radio Shack and get their part # 272-1028 - 100uF/35V one. It takes all but 10 minutes to re-solder the new one in place

I replace the C3 Capacitor on the display circuit board of a Jenn Air model #JJW9627AAW - double oven from Sears after the display got too dimm. This cost me $1.50 total verses the $200 parts cost only.

The oven remains locked when internal temperature is hot enough for the cleaning cycle. If it unlocks after the temperature comes back down, it seems to be working properly.
