Question about Toshiba 50H72 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Red?Green picture I just replaced the lamp on the Toshiba 46HM95. When I turned on the unit my picture was predominately red and green. Per the owners manual, I turned off the set and removed the lamp, then proceded to replaced the lamp and close the door. Same thing, red/green picture. I have tried adjusting the tint, contrast, brightness, etc....with no change. I called Toshiba and they said to turn off and unplug the unit for at least three minutes so the unit resets to the factory settings. Still red/green picture. What can I do to fix this problem? my picture has suddenly developed severe shadowing, and the colors are predominately red and green. wavy lines. I unhooked my digital box and went straight into the tv with the cable. no difference. all the other tvs in the house are ok

Re: Red?Green picture

You may have inadvertantly loosened a cable connection to the DMD or logic board... You might be able to shut it down, unplug the unit and remove the lamp.. With the lamp out take a good flashlight and shine it into the lamp housing area inside the Tv and see if you have any wire obstructions that you could have contacted with the edge of the housing as you were removing or inserting the lamp...

When the TV has been powered on long enough for the lamp unit to get hot, it may take several minutes for the picture to appear on-screen
in the following situations:
• When the Quick Restart™ feature is set to OFF and you turn the TV off and then on again within a few minutes.
• If the TV is on when a short-term power failure, power surge, or other similar power failure occurs, such that the TV loses and regains
power within a few minutes.
This is a property of DLP TV lamp technology and is NOT a sign of malfunction.
If this occurs, the green LED on the TV front panel will blink (and the red LED will be lit solid) until the TV is finished restarting the lamp
and the normal picture appears. If BOTH green and red LEDs are blinking at a one-second rate, you will need to turn the TV off and then
on again to restart the lamp.

No picture, siren type noise as restarting

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

Led lights flashing

replace the lamp. the lamps basicly have 3000 hours before they go, and also depends on the number of times the unit is turned on and off which greatly lessens the life of the lamp.

If you are connected to a HD cable box or sat. rcvr. using component cables, I would then suspect a loose or bad blue connection or cable. If you have Comcast and have their supplied flat component cable this is a common issue.
