Hi. I got an US-122L and certainly got the same problem, and it also seem to happen with the TuxGuitar. What I've seen is that the Tascam receive the data and then route it to the midi out port 'cause the led of it flashes, so I think we need to got a midi instrument to play the music. The only thing that make no sense is that I can stillplay midi files and hear them through the US-122L but not the Guitar Pro sound; I think the software sees a midi interface and sends data instead of sound. Does anybody know a way to change that in the program?

How to connect a MIDI keyboard to computer

There are quite a few ways to do this. The simplest way is to just use the USB port on the keyboard and run that into the computer. If your keyboard has a USB, then you dont need the midi to connect to a computer. You would still use the midi however for other sound modules and items that do have a midi in port however. If you dont have a midi in then you need to get hardware that does as a computer will not have a midi in. There are basic adapters that you can get that just have a midi connector to usb adapter. There are external sound card devices that will do this like the tascam 144. There are also simple devices made my midiman such as the 2x2 midisport that allows you to connect up to 2 midi devices to a computer. The cheapest quickest method if you are just starting out is the midi to usb cable though. Places like walmart, best buy, and radio shack will generally have these. However with making digital music the cheapest is not generally ideal but will get you by in the meantime. If you ever plan on recording audio like vocals or guitar then I would recommend just getting something like the Tascam 144 MK II as it will allow you to input midi, spdif, vocals with phantom power, guitar line in, through it with 24/94 bit conversion, audio drivers, and a bit of software for simple settings configuration. This would be more of an intermediate interface. If you want some pro solutions, then I would recommend going to the pro's at a musician store and talking to them.

Hello are theres any way i can install my tascam us 144 without the disc

That's going to depend. What you really need are the drivers. If it's not detecting them automatically, try going here: http://tascam.com/product/us-122/downloads/ and downloading the drivers, although it does not seem they have any drivers available for any Windows versions beyond XP

Tascam 144 sony acid pro 6 no sound from midi track

It sounds like you may be confused on what the MIDI part actually does. MIDI records your performance, not your sound. Then you assign and play back the recorded performance to either a virtual instrument (in which case you should here sound from your computer) or to a real physical MIDI capable instrument (in which case you would here the sound coming from that real instrument instead of the computer).
The ends of the MIDI cables themselves are identical, not IN or OUT.

No sound in playback (but can hear click track)

This might seem simple, but just to check: you have switched off the monitor on the track when you go to playback? With track monitor engaged, you will not hear playback, but will continue to hear the live monitor.

I need the drivers download for the tascam us144 for windows vista

http://www.tascam.com/i-406-232-128-6-1DFAFF45.zip

This is a driver for Windows Vista/XP 32-bit system and I found it on this page:

http://www.tascam.com/products/us-144;9,15,70,19.html

That page includes manuals, firmware (the program embedded on the 144), etc.

What cables for yamaha keyboard psr295 to connect with tascam 144

There are different options depending on what you want to achieve. If you want to send only MIDI data to your PC (for example, to run a VST instrument), then you can use a standard MIDI cable to connect the "out" on your keyboard to the "in" on your Tascam. You should also be able to use the Yamaha USB cable to connect directly to your computer, which would then bypass the Tascam (still giving you the same outcome, but without the need to buy any extra cables.
However, if you want to send the audio data (i.e. the actual sound) of the keyboard to your PC, you would simply use a standard guitar lead from the line out of the keyboard into the line in (both, if your keyboard has stereo outs) of your Tascam. This will eliminate any need for VST instruments, as you will be recording the audio signal directly.

Tascam midi and audio conflict error

Hi,
First try turning off the onboard audio device using the BIOS interface. Try pressing f4, f2 or delete key rapidly at the flash screen beginning when you first turn on the computer. Look around in the bios (usually in "integrated periperals" area) and disable any onboard audio options that you see.
-In windows XP you can go to Control panel - Sound Devices and change the "map through" feature, select your default device, and run a hardware test simulation with a microphone for each device. Nice setup btw.
