A winow opened on my windows messenger saying i had to install a newer version to continue and it will NOT let me install it either? no-one else has to do it why do I?

Just go to the control panel and in that go to add or remove programs in that remove or uninstall the older version and then download new version of the hot mail messenger .

Check your firewall isn't blocking msn

Have you installed the full WindowsLive! suite? You can get away with installing Messenger and Mail, but the latest messengers are built to run with Live!
have you gone into the msn messengers settings and options, as you have to enable the cam to be used, i would advise downloading winows live messenger; a newer version than msn and it's more stable than older versions
